Renault Clio 200 (2009/2010)
Discussion
Maybe reviving an old thread but I think people are too focused on mileage, these cars are designed to be used and I sold my old 197 on 114k and my AG Clio 200 has just ticked over 75k, if they are looked after they are perfectly reliable and it’s much better to buy a used one imo that’s been looked after than one that’s done 20k but been sat for ages and only driven to the shops, not healthy at all!
I’m considering a Clio 197/200 for trackdays only. I’ve never owned a Renault and not really into them but quite like the look of the little Mk3 Clio 197/200. I have built a dedicated track car in the past but sold it back in 2013 due to lack of use. I currently own a BMW F80 M3 and Mk7 Golf GTI for the road but thought a Clio would be good fun at my local tracks which are Lydden Hill and Brands.
Is there much difference between the 197&200 if purely a track car?
Is it worth buying one with Cup suspension or is it better to buy non cup and buy aftermarket coil overs?
Do the engines put up with a lot of abuse on track? Any weak areas like high oil temps/ high water temps. Do they need extra cooling? Is the sump baffelled and gated or do they need modding?
Basically any advice running one of these as a track toy.
Thanks
Simon

I’ve read the buying guide on here now which was very helpful. I’m not on Facebook but I’ll have a look on Cliosport.net, thanks.
I did this exact move at the end of Nov last year. Picked up a good little Mk3 200 with the cup pack and recaros. My daily is an M2. I got the cam belt done, put some AD08R tyres on it and I’ve dont Silverstone GP and Donington since. It’s a great little car and won’t make me cry if I bend it.
