Looks a very nice example and a very nice engine spec it says uprated pistons what are used or have they just used the 1.6 pistons in a 1.9.

I've got a bog standard 1.9 but am still toying on building a better spec one.

Sorry for the delay in replies, I forgot to check the thread!

I have a huge wad of reciepts I need to go through so I'll look at what exactly the liners and pistons are.

In no rush to fix her up yet, shes sat in my warm garage awaiting tlc. I have new carpet to go in and other items. I've taken it for a spin up the road every so often to rotate the tyres and keep her going.

Such a bugger to start, takes about 3-4 goes, but the pops and bangs are worth it! Smoking a fair bit, but I think it's over fuelling quite badly. The clutch is definitely slipping too.

But I knew all this, it will go the garage this month for a full diagnosis of what jobs need doing and the cost involved.

Once I know where I stand, I can plan financially. Don't want to pretty it up further until the oily bits are all done!

I do need to get some decent pics, when we get a dry day I'll get some.

Hello!

Yes, there has been progress, albeit slowly.

I've had the car gone over by my tame mechanic, he has replaced the clutch and all the coolant hoses, fitted a new fan, made some custom brackets for various things (cable tied on previously) , replaced the oil filler, cleaned the engine.

Next on the list is to get her on a rolling road as there's little/no pickup low down, the car stutters. Get to 1500/2k and it revs beautifully.

The filter has been fitted to the carbs, but it's quite poor so I'll need to source a new one.
