Okay so I bought a new daily driver it's a phase one d turbo Meriden
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182749719025

Annoyingly lookers says it only does 71 bhp...
Edit: other sites such as Wikipedia and instant car check say 91bhp, which makes sense as it's a TDiesel phase 1 the Meridian Shouldn't be any different!
So what are the best ways to get it up a bit?
I'm guessing a fmic would be a good start?

If it's a meridian it isn't a d-turbo, it's just an ordinary turbo diesel. D-turbo was the turbo diesel version of the xsi. Came with different bumpers, fog lights , different interior and stiffer suspension.

You can tweek the injector pump and turbo for an extra 10-15 safe bhp. Join pug306.net. There's plenty of guides.

If its only done 73K,as per the ad, that`s a good start as those old Pug diesels last for ever, mind you it is 20 years old ? Before you start playing with it I would first give it a really good service(forget the history file)run the engine with some oil flush before changing the oil and filter. The oil feed to the turbo needs to be cleaned out to keep it well lubricated. Also fit a new cambelt Kit.Unless of course you are 110% sure it was done just before you bought it.

Ah right but it should still have more than 70bhp surely with it being turbo diesel?
Unfortunately that website seems dead I'll try pscuk.net

Are you sure the TD came in at 70bhp, that is the non turbo. If it has the intercooler on top then you you are good for 90bhp. 70 bhp td never heard of one.

This. We had a few Peugeot diesels in our household and n/a was 70 bhp and the turbo was 90 bhp. We had a phase 1 306 D Turbo when they were new. Great car but always missed the 205 XS it replaced.
