I'm getting more and more tempted by one of these. I'm not normally that keen on SUVs but this thing really is rather nice.
And that interior
Did you end up getting one/going to see one? Or has anyone else for that matter? Its weird that this car and the Pug 508 are so good looking inside and out and its as if they dont exist! Barely any forum results about them on google, none even in any dealerships withing 30 miles of me and definately havent seen one on the road. And that interior
Been looking at BMW x5/5 series, but the 508 and DS7 keep popping up in my head, even Jeremy Clarkson gave it a decent review which considering its a French SUV I think is pretty good going!
I held off because as much as I love the DS7, I am not really into SUVs. The dealer told me that a saloon version is coming next year (basically a DS version of the 508). If it's what I think it will be, I may well go for it.
I know that DS gets a lot of flack. People say that they are just tarted up Citroens, that it's all show and no go, that they look tacky. I disagree. I owned a DS5 previously and I loved it. I loved the fact that everything in the cabin that looked like metal was actually real metal - which is the exact opposite of the idea that it's all just gimmicks. I loved the high build quality, the quietness, the refinement.
Most of all, I loved the quirkiness. I loved the brave, beautiful and unusual design. I loved the fact that here was a manufacturer who was daring to be different; who was actually taking a risk rather than just churning out a vanilla product designed to offend the smallest number of people. This is what Renault did 20 years ago with the Vel Satis and Avantime, and with the big-bottomed Megane. It's what Citroen did with the C6. I loved all of those cars, and they are all now gone.
I love DS. I just hope that they survive long enough for them to produce the large saloon that I really want.

I normally go for unusual stuff and the DS7 caught my eye but a combination of poor engine choice (as it’s French they just don’t go above 2 litres), ambitious pricing and areas of trim that would make Ford blush have put me off.
Look at this car, look at the detail pics around the interior rear, the drivers seat etc it’s just not what a German buyer would be tempted with.

TBH its not a bad attempt by DS, but the 3008 SUV is far better value for money and holds its value, the down side is that the 3008 does not get the higher powered engine choices that the DS7 does (180bhp being the highest on the 3008 in GT form with the superb EAT8 gearbox), and then there is the question of price, £40k?! really?!!! It's not worth it, will stick with my 3008 GT which was considerably less than that price new

I can't see much wrong with those areas to be honest. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
My DS7 just had its first year service at 10000 miles. The first one my dealer has had in for the service. Quite a few software upgrades that have cured a few niggles with the sat nav.
It's been brilliant and I love it. Performance is terrific, I have the 210bhp version and it covers distances and sits in traffic with aplomb.
I like the fact that I have seen only a handful on the road. Contrast that with the 3008 where, particularly on the French motorways they account for every other vehicle. That's not a criticism by the way, I think they're fantastic and was sorely tempted. However, it's a different vehicle and fe,t much smaller inside in the showroom when shopping between DS7 and 3008. Mine is the Performance Line variant and compared to the 3008gt was 6 a month more. Mine was under 40k on the road.
I may have mentioned way back in this thread that I was never an SUV chap. I got leant on when my 159 got bumped and I found the driving position so much more relaxing in real life driving situations I was swayed.
I have no reservations whatsoever about the decision to go for one. My view is that DS have pitched the price too high for the higher models but I actually don't like the watch strap leather on the one in the ad above and the night vision and scanning suspension are in my view just not sensible options. I would have liked reversing cameras and front sensors but that's about all.
Vive la difference!

The interior doesnt look to bad to me, plus the Alcantara lined interior would hide all that stuff. Its not as refined as a high end German but more in the same way a 'boutique hotel' isnt as refined as the Waldorf Astoria.
Putting me off the DS7 is engine choices, id go for the petrol and a 1.6 just sounds so puney, the badge (just being honest), price (Icould get a nice xc90 or x5) and possibly the size. Ive seen it compared to an Audi q3 which is to small, but also to a q5 which would be fine.
Attracting me to it are its design (inside and out), the level of spec and that its an 'unusual' car.

Nice car the DS7
I have a C5 Aircross Flair plus 1.6 petrol turbo with the 8 speed auto on order. Its a very similar car, the interior of the C5 with its brown leather was an instant win for me and it rides very nice, not quite to the levels of my old C6 but very comfortable nonetheless.

Blimey, thats keen pricing. When I went into mine on a 4 year deal they told me I could break at 2 years specifically beacuse they were introducing a hybrid version.
Got to be worth looking at although I couldn't be happier with mine, particularly after the softwear updates at first service a couple of months or so ago.

Just had a Performance Line on extended test drive over the weekend after a black one caught my eye in Dorking. Didn't even know these things existed before then! Not seen another on the road since, down here in Surrey.
As for the test drive? Loved it. So quiet, comfortable, and plenty big enough in class/price. Tech is fantastic, and interior a breath of fresh air after German (VAG) brands. Ride was sublime in the diesel Performance Line which had the option Active Scan Suspension.
We need something bigger than the current Golf R as a family wagon, and this will fit the bill perfectly. Looking at an Ultra Prestige (although I really, really like the Alcantara trim - annoying that it's only available in the Performance Line). As just mentioned, seems to be some fantastic offers available on new, pre-reg and ex-demo as maybe they clear the way for the E-Tense (would also be interested in this at ~300bhp when they're 6-12 months old).

On release, the Ultra Prestige was priced a bit high for me, but I wasn't to worried as preferred the Alcantara. The Opera had the watch strap leather, which I didnt really like either.
I was in the dealers at the weekend and spoke about upgrading mine, 2 years into the lease, for the hybrid. I love the car and will never tire of explaining to people what it is after the inevitable question.
