I had no idea they had separated DS into it's own brand - I suspect most of the UK public will not care much for it either; they'll be referred to as Citroen DS's for years to come.
I have been subjected to DS4 and DS5s in the past as hire cars; they're really just white goods vehicles with peculiar styling, rather than being ground-breaking.
I wouldn't entertain the idea of one out of principle purely for the website referencing the dealerships as "Salons" FFS.
I'm sure all 23 buyers will enjoy theirs though.

Yes, it's a 3008/5008. It's the same thing as is restyled and rebranded to the Opel Grandland X, and will soon be the Citroen C5 Aircross, too.
The camera-based variable damping is almost certainly off-the-shelf from one of the main suppliers.
As for the DS brand - all the current range started off as Citroen-badged (DS3 in 2009, DS4 in 2010, DS5 in 2011 - together with various China-only models), then DS was spun off to be PSA's third brand (now four, with Opel*) in 2015. So with this being the first DS-DS, it might start to change that "Oh, you mean a Citroen?" perception. Or it might not, since DS is selling badly in all markets, not least because the rest of the range is so aged and indifferent... New DS3 (which'll be an SUV - C3 Aircross/CrosslandX/2008) due this year, new DS5 (which'll also be the Insignia/508/C5 replacement) in a year or two.
* - no, I'm not counting the UK-only badgeswap to Vauxhall as being anything different to Opel, simply because it isn't...

For me the DS7 looks good and seems to be well proportioned. Its main problem is a lack of powerful engines that customers (especially PH members) would aspire too. It doesn't matter that few customers will actually buy a V6 turbo. The important thing is to have them in the range to give it a performance image which will be reinforced by occasionally seeing one on the road (belonging to that rare customer that actually buys one). The competition understand this: Audi Q5 vs SQ5, BMW M sport models, F-Pace V6 etc.
I like the design of the DS range, my sister had a DS4 previously and it I thought it was a bit of a leftfield choice, certainly looked different from other hatchbacks. Nothing went wrong with it electrically or mechanically in the 4 years she had it either. My only gripe was the driving position was just awful, I could never have one just because of that.
I went to the launch event a couple of months ago.
Things I liked:
So I admire them for doing it, but it's not for me. I am tempted by the new Peugeot 508, though.
Things I liked:
- The interior is mind-blowingly fabulous. Seriously. It's amazing.
- Very high quality materials. Genuine high quality, not just a bit of squidgy plastic here and there.
- It's an SUV, and like a previous poster, I am not really a fan of SUVs.
- The exterior is quite boring. I used to own a DS5, which was a genuine head turner. But this DS7 looks boring from the outside.

Have Citroen (DS if you will) have missed a trick with this, there are two threads running today on soft comfortable cars, and how car manufacturers don't make them like that anymore.
The DS brand aim should be to make these go against the sporty hard ride market delivery and focus on comfort, hidden tech not the on show flashing graphics and lights and make the driving experience as effortless as possible.
This seems to be too much just based on the Peugeot with a different frock on top.
No I haven't driven it read a few reviews, like the idea, (maybe is the one in my head) not sure they have nailed the execution.

What's wrong with 'salons'?I have been subjected to DS4 and DS5s in the past as hire cars; they're really just white goods vehicles with peculiar styling, rather than being ground-breaking.
