I’m on my second now, after a couple of years in a EP3 Civic Type R it’s refreshing to be in a car that provides some feedback through the steering wheel again. I’ve got a few bits to do on mine but it’s an absolute joy to drive on the limits.

First one

Current one

Now that is a committed cornering speed

I didn’t dare to push the PS3’s any harder in the temperatures, it’s got a nice set of semi slicks to go on now so hopefully I can find a bit more track speed.

Personally I think I prefer the 172 Sport Clio Mk1
More Nicole papa plus it was worlds ahead of the Clio Williams before it in every way. Every options was standard.

They are cheap as chips now - just like the Pug 205 1.9’ GTis were .... they will not be for long mark my word

The Mk1 172s are difficult to find now, and have already started to rise in value. The Ph2 172s are currently the cheapest buy, but I wonder for how long.

I never understand why mass produced cars which currently are in the simply old category (many clapped out ) “appreciate. They are not rare - it seems to be every man and his dog is so desperate to buy a car that goes up in value like a Classic Ferrari. You see it all the time in adverts too “future classic “ or “already a classic” “appreciating fast “ - if that were the case and the seller truely believed it they wouldn’t be selling

I've had my 182 cup for over 8 years now and don't think I will ever sell it. Will probably keep it until something happens that is uneconomical to repair or will move it in to track car duties if I get another road car.

Surely it will become a collectible classic so you could flog it on for a tidy profit

I had a 182 back in 2016, Brilliant little car. Two things i would do - get a retrimmed steering wheel from 'snappy' on closport.net & fit koni adjustable dampers on the rear. The ride quality stays the same but the rear stays much flatter helping turn in.

Very close to pulling the trigger on a 182 , Ideally a black one, but a blue one has turned up that is ticking lots of boxes!
Has anyone fitted Koni or Bilsteins to their car ?

Put these on your list for consideration, they're available with a choice of spring rates as standard, easily adjustable and get some great write ups. https://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/renault/ren...

Konis on my 172 Cup, been very happy with them for about 7yrs now, paired with the lower of the two Eibach springs.

Just recently replaced the cup dampers and cooksport springs on my 172 with Bilstein B14's, great body control / turn in and the ride quality is way better...Seriously impressive kit for road and the odd track day.

Thanks guys, on a budget, so I am thinking either Koni or Bilsteins.
Springs probably Eibach.

Need to establish which front hubs it has as well.

Bilstein's are coilovers so no springs needed...
