Never driven a Renaultsport Megane before but seriously considering ordering one, I very much doubt I'm going to get a chance for a test drive any time soon so really undecided whether to get the standard sport model or the Trophy.

I'll use the car for 2 motorway commutes a week (40 miles each way) and the rest of the time for general use / drives for fun. I won't be hauling the wife and kids around in it too often but will do sometimes. Very much doubt it will see any track use.

So, would the Trophy be a bit too much for what I need, would I be better off with the sport on it's 18" wheels and softer setup for our crappy roads and motorway use? I've had some fairly firm riding cars before so not totally put off by all the reports of the Trophy ride being hard. Also, is the Trophy's engine more responsive than the Sport or has that now got the ceramic bearing turbo as well?

What do you guys who have driven both or own one think?
I’m in the same boat as you regards mileage, useage etc and plumped for the trophy. Not tested one and it’s due for delivery end May (fingers crossed) but had a megane sport previously - 2010 cup chassis model. Think had I gone for anything less this time around I’d probably have regretted it.

Hope that’s of some use!

Has anyone heard anything about when the factories are re-opening? I think those still expecting a May delivery are being a bit too hopeful!

All factories still closed as far as I’m aware.

Hopefully have an update at the end of this week/early next week.

If the cars are in the country, renault have started sending cars to dealers.

Does anybody have any experience of any tyre other than the standard bridgstone potenza?
I've done 6k and ready for new fronts.
PS4S or Eagle F1 Supersport are worth looking at.
Going in for Michelin Super Sports this week

Having deliberated for some time between the Sport and Trophy I decided to go for the Trophy, I think if I'm going to really enjoy a car like this then it has to be the full on Trophy experience.

I kind of justified it with the thinking that they might not be making cars like this for many more years now so enjoy this kind of stuff while you can! Got a black Trophy on a 2 year lease, car is in stock so just need to get the deliveries going again...can't wait!

I had similar mentality, I have no idea how long I'll have access to and afford these types of machines so go all in whilst I have the chance. I previously had a Golf GTI on 2 yr lease and whilst it was an excellent car, I deeply regretted not getting an R.
Trophy is spectacular fun, induces a smile every time you start the engine.

I'd never buy a Renault Sport without the Cup chassis. Completely pointless in my opinion.

If I wanted something better for 'normal' driving I'd buy a Golf.

Currently owned a Clio 200 for the last 5 years, and absolutely loved the ownership, even though it’s caused me grief over the years (replacement gearbox / rattling interior)

Test drove the Megane Trophy last May, and instantly loved it! Felt night and day in terms of comfort against my Clio, so the stiffer setup in the Trophy didn’t really phase me.

Ordered the Trophy in the first week of January, with an expected delivery date of 27th April.

Given the current situation, the delivery has been delayed. Not a bad thing, as I’d be paying for a car to sit on my drive doing nothing!

I received a mail 2 weeks back to say the dealership were to reopen on the 18th May and spend the first week getting health guidelines in place, and then the following week (next week) will be to contact customers with orders.

Anyone else had an update on outstanding orders?

I’m about to chase up G2L for an update as I was told similar. Just had to service my boring Arona at £250 which was a kick in the teeth but at least I have wheels for the Mrs (Nurse). She’s in for a shock going from 115 to 280 haha

The factories re-opened a couple of weeks back so hopefully it won't be long after the dealers open for delivery. Think I'll check in again at the end of the month for an update.

First Post on piston heads, not just this thread.

I ordered my rs280 sport EDC last April, is a daily driver that if I am not using it, my girlfriend is with our 4 year old in the back, so opted for the 18s and didn't feel the cup chassis was needed.
Collected the car on the first Friday in July and was happy as pig in muck, I'd been looking at the car for a year and soon as I had the chance I ordered it and was impatiently chasing the dealer every other week lol.
The car had 25miles delivery on clock and left to go to my parents, as I was leaving my dad and brother jumped in to go for a quick spin, and before we could go half a mile the car lurched, and "check auto gearbox" flashed on dash, did a couple more miles with the car driving normal, then jumping and warning on dash, so drove straight back to dealer, the car now not finding gears and revving hard to pull away then finding gear and shooting me forward, pulled back in to dealer at 4pm on a Friday and was given a dacia thing until the following week.
It took a week for Renault customer service to contact me, and only because I complained on twitter, and even then they were just useless, not listening to what I was saying and just brushing it off. All I asked for from them was just another rs to use until mine was sorted, ended up with an astra from enterprise.
The decided the car needed a new box, and 1 was ordered from France, so dozens of phone calls, numerous false promises and 8 weeks later, a new box finally arrived and was fitted, and finally got my car back the first week of September.
Since then I've done 6.5k miles in it and have no complaints, ironically the gearbox is 1 of the best things about the car, so smooth through the gears and can't feel any gear change when pulling through the gears in sport or race.
Originally I ordered the car in black, reason being the orange or yellow was going to be atleast another month or 2 wait for delivery, and I already had plans to wrap it, and black is the better colour for that.

Just ordered a RS280 to replace my ageing 2015 Golf R! Got it on a lease for 2 years. Haven’t even seen one in the flesh yet but the pictures look good enough for me.

Gone for classic lease spec in white with only the 19” Black Interlagos wheels as an option.

Any ideas on wait times? LeaseHub have said 10 weeks....

How much did it cost for your wrap? Looks real nice 👍 shame about the poor service, though.

I had the DSG box in my current Arona die on day 1 it just jammed in park and never came out again. It blocked a church that was hosting a funeral at the time, probably the most embarrassing breakdown ever waiting for that tow... 🤮 last service 2 weeks ago also flagged the turbo actuator had failed. Not reliable for a little 1 litre turbo in 2 years but the service was fast at least.

Thanks, I always wanted to make it my own.
I was originally looking at matte ppf over the black paint, which I was quoted 2k, but the wrap came in at 1.3k, so was a no brainer.
Took me a while to choose the colour, nearly just went satin black, there was a blue, but I occasionally go see customers in the car, and the satin grey looks like it could be a standard colour so was the right choice.

Looks great. Did they do the door shuts for that price too or just the exterior?
