Anyone know of a fix for the exhaust flap squeak on the Trophy? I know it's a common issue and assumed if I ever got it I'd be happy to ignore it but my god it's loud, in traffic it sounds like someone's pushing a rusty wheelbarrow behind me.

Can it be oiled or greased? Or can I force it to stay open by removing a fuse? Not particularly concerned about noise.

I read that a couple of people had replacement exhausts under warranty which seems overkill (and the problem will surely just return a year or so down the line), don't really want to go down this route.
Even the replacement exhausts squeak after time (or so I've read). Mine started doing this and you can give the valve a quick squirt of white grease (can easily be done by looking up the pipe from the back of the car). Squeak went away and hasn't returned yet and that was several months ago now.

My gearbox-sounding noise has indeed been diagnosed as a broken gearbox after just 21,000 miles.

It's a 2018 car so out of warranty, and a £4,000 job to replace. Fortunately Renault are covering 70% of the cost, and I'm hopeful the extended warranty I bought recently should cover the remaining £1,200.

Not brilliant though.

I wonder whether my car had a particularly hard year before my ownership but it doesn't sound an uncommon Renault group issue. Symptoms to watch out for are a clicking/knocking at <4mph and a droning noise pitched with wheel speed at >35mph. Any gear, neutral, clutch in or out.

Anyone here had the same problem?

I've read about 1 or 2 people having gearbox issues leading to a replacement being required. I always thought it was a risk considering the fact that it's the same box as was fitted in the mk3 and the well documented problems reported there. It's food for thought for me with my warranty expiring in June

I had that exact problem with my 2016 Mk3 Megane at similar mileage. Happened in 2019 so fortunately just within the warranty. It's the output bearing on the gearbox that fails.

Car is currently in the garage as the dual mass flywheel has failed at just under 40k. Having a new clutch and associated parts fitted whilst they are there. This is after just after having cambelt service last month. I'm now skint!

Funnily enough I had the exact same failure on a 172 Cup gearbox 14yrs ago. 5-speed so not the same 'box but I imagine they are closely related. Must be how I drive biggrin

I finally fixed a squeak on my driver seat this week.

It's been driving me nuts for months. Literally there was one joint I missed under the seat that wasn't greased. Finally found it and the sound has gone!

I'm having issues with keyless entry
It's putting the mirrors out but not unlocking when touching the door handles ..

And today I drove away and shortly after it started beeping the alarm and jammed the hazards on

Seems to be the same with both keys .. batteries just drained on them you think?

Is there no warning or way to check built into the car?
Not had anything. Not ideal as it's the Mrs due date today .. I don't have a charger of any kind myself. It's an RS280 btw

It did it again today. 30 min drive on the motorway, randomly set the alarm off while driving and put the hazards on which I couldn't switch off.

Took the key out my pocket and put it in the dash cubby, it stopped.

Never had a problem last year with this ..

Any recommendations for a garage to carry out the Y1 service on a manual 280 in the Harrogate area?

I've started to detect what I assume to be a slipping clutch after only 7k miles, not ideal.

Have you changed the batteries in the keycard? Or had a warning saying the keycard battery is low? It does play up a little without it being obvious the key is the issue when they get low.

The sensor for the keycard is next to the glove box where the start button would be for a lhd car, so if moving the key closer to there improved things the keycard battery would be my first guess.

Thanks, I didn't get any warnings about the fob - did skim the manual which said it should warn you but I have got a new battery this morning for 1 of the fobs, so guess I need to go driving!

I found the alarm a bit iffy on the 280 and the Clio Trophy I had before.

It's never gone off while driving, but occasionally, if you get out of the car with the fob, the doors lock, then open the handle, the car unlocks, but the alarm doesn't always seem to disarm - and it goes off.

Bit annoying, seems like a timing issue in the code of the arm to me!

You were very lucky to get in there! I hope you chose a good colour and spec!

5 month wait from factory order to delivery 2 days earlier than planned so it all worked out ok for me!! Sure did get the exact spec I wanted! Liquid Yellow & Interlagos Alloys (they stopped selling the black alloys they are OOP). Renault still had parts to make several more but no orders came in sadly so order book is closed forever now! Several owners in Spain got theirs last month on the spanish RS forums from the same production line run. They posted some pics as they received theirs off the trailer (no import process there obviously!).

There were 2 other UK MY2022 Trophy Yellow & Orange start of this week at the import centre...both sold within minutes! There is still a black Trophy around as well due in a few weeks on Autotrader for £41Kish. But production has stopped forever now!

The black one is indeed the last one left, looks like it has arrived at the dealer now. Standard 300 EDC in Diamond black.

The facelift must've hardly been worth the effort, only lasted about a year or so?

Surprised more hasn't been made of the demise of the Renaultsport brand in the motoring press. Some great cars over the years, consigned to history now.

If it continues under the Alpine brand, and they actually manage to make some decent drivers car EVs', I won't be too sad. I'm fairly hopeful on this.
