Awesome cars. So full of character. Simply love mine. Only done 4000 miles or so in 18 months but always enjoy taking it out. Just keep an eye on the battery.
Mine is sport 300 NOT a Trophy so it comes with the 50A traditional battery (why I chose it instead of a Trophy as I require the extra comfort of the Sport 300 for older passengers!).That new 300 looks fantastic! Great to have the last of the line too, one to treasure. The facelift rear lights modernise the car really nicely don't they.
Meanwhile my noisy gearbox has been diagnosed as in need of replacement. An instant goodwill offer of 70% still leaves a four-figure bill for me so I'm having a little back-and-forth to see if they'll go further. 21k 2018 cars shouldn't really need new gearboxes...

That's not ideal. I thought they had a 5 year warranty? There's sticker on the back of mine that says just that.Meanwhile my noisy gearbox has been diagnosed as in need of replacement. 2018 car would havd had 3 years warranty.
Yeah I can't remember when the RS changed to match the rest of the line-up at 5yrs. Mine's May 2018 so a pretty early one, the fault began just 6 months out of warranty of course...SykesAJ said:

That's bad news sorry to hear about that. Please PM me I have an email of someone very senior @ Renault UK who might be able to help you I am sure they will waive most of the costs for the sake of a few months on a car which is no longer made! They must have the parts just sitting there somewhere....!!Meanwhile my noisy gearbox has been diagnosed as in need of replacement. Thanks very much, that might be handy! I can't seem to find a way to PM you though... Are you able to email me? (Sykes dot AJS at gmail dot com)SykesAJ said:
Received. Thanks so much, that's really appreciated. The power of the enthusiast community! Will pick up with them directly - I'm sure they'll be able to help. Thanks again!!
Sure they can help somehow might now be the full amount but I bet they can get you most of it paid!! Most of these dealers cba to get involved but when RUK tell them its on the house they will do it to keep their lucrative franchise flowing!M3Gane-Fan said:

A very quick resolution indeed. There was an offer from Renault to pay 100% but that wouldn't be warranted, or for 90% with 12 month's warranty. I've decided to go with the warranty option for comfort. Thanks again for the contacts, that's moved things along nicely. Should be all sorted in a fortnight's time.SykesAJ said:

FWIW I think you're slightly misunderstanding the role the dealer plays. They will be more than happy to get involved as it is labour work for them, paid by the manufacturer. Sometimes the customer needs to escalate the case with RUK to get more contribution as RUK will obviously want to pay as little as possible!
Yeah I certainly don't have a problem with my local dealer in Derby, I always get the impression they're doing what they can but just seem very overworked. There's a guy who has a real interest in the car so takes care of us. It's possible this situation would have found the same resolution eventually but being able to pester the right people definitely moved it on quicker.I'm just looking forward to driving the car without the fear of leaving gears all over the road...

Not misunderstanding at all its just some dealers in & around London & South East for instance are so busy they less interested than others in taking on lengthy jobs. They seem to prefer their bread & butter easy to do maintenance than more complex jobs! As complex jobs can sometimes become even more complex jobs....I'm interested to thoughts on this tyre wear. Measured at the Y1 service with 4600 miles on the clock.
With lockdown and spell of overseas my usage this year has been limited to say the least. I've enjoyed the performance and handling of the car but overall tend to drive sensibly.
For reference I tend to get at least 15k from a set of tyres but accept that 280ps going through the front wheels can take it's toll.
