Is the battery a sealed lead acid battery or expensive lightweight Lithium Ion as used in some Lotus cars?
Just a lead acid. Some have tried to fit a Lithium - but apparently there are charging issues. See the UK site https://www.renaultalpine.co.uk for details.Edited by bcr5784 on Tuesday 15th December 09:07

Any issues with rusting wheel nuts guys ... something I spotted on the car I'm buying ?
No serious but a simple swap for better quality would be an easy fix, have you had any issues. Dealer also mentioned the Alpine logo on the brakes corroding a bit too ?
Cheers
No problem with wheel nuts - but corrosion on the aluminium part of the brakes is common.No serious but a simple swap for better quality would be an easy fix, have you had any issues. Dealer also mentioned the Alpine logo on the brakes corroding a bit too ?

Hi guys, had first quote through for insurance as part of our Admiral multi policy - £580 ish for 8k miles, age 52 & 19 years no claims, off road parking etc. Seemed a bit toppy to me but guessing Alpine's could attract a bit of a premium, what do you recon ?
Obviously depends on area. I think others have had quotes (include me) of half or less of your quote. What do the price comparison sites say? Don't think the Alpine attracts a premium - was much the same as my Cayman 981S, perhaps a bit less.Simon Owen said:

Mine was circa £750 for 6k p/a, similar age and ncb. Downside is I live in West London which attracts a premium to the premium regardless of the car.khart said:
I bought a ctek charger with an extension and the 10mm connector. Didn't need to remove the boot as the top of the battery is accessible with the panel removed. I have run the cable through the hinge into the boot. I have seen someone cut a hole in the boot and fit a connector which is another possibility.
I think they should include the service in the price.
This is how I fitted my CTEK fixed charge cable for easy charging on our A110. I also send a email to CTEK support concerning the Alpine Enhanced Flooded Battery and the need of EGM function on the CTEK charger.I think they should include the service in the price.
Question: I have a brand new Alpine A110 with a Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB).
When charging this EFB battery with CTEK MXS 5.0; do I need to activate the EGM function
on the charger? Some info say yes and other say no.
Reply; from CTEK => NO

15.000km of daily usage in every weather...no rust issues on wheel nuts so far. No serious but a simple swap for better quality would be an easy fix, have you had any issues. Dealer also mentioned the Alpine logo on the brakes corroding a bit too ?
