Steve, how's the exhaust compared to the 124?

Not so asbo, on the 124 I wired the value open as it kept rusting up & not freely working.
Meggy more crackles & pops ala RS focus.

That valves bloody annoying. Mines been jammed for ages. Couldn't be bothered getting it fixed after it went the first time. How's the Megane compare for fun/speed with the Abarth?

Early days but, feels very secure on my country roads with surprisingly good ride over rough conditions.
You can feel the extra 110bhp & torque instantly you hit the fast pedal. Seems to be very good package & very ‘sleeper’.
Very good rubber as standard should still be excellent in the wet.

Think as I do that the 208 BPS was harsher?

Yes the ride is way better in meggy, the pug used to be a handful on my roads.

But more exciting to drive than the RS? I have an R26 and it very exciting to drive quickly, so much going on but the newer and larger hot hatches are just quicker but also seem to be a lot less exciting. I guess you need 2 cars wink

I had an R26, which I did many miles in and I also tracked. My gut feel is that the new Mégane is more fun than that car. It's nothing like my old Golf R, for example.

Excellent news. My old Golf R bored me to pieces.

Also good news for me - had a golf r and whilst it did everything well, was never exciting or fun!

Delivery done.

Pleased to say car was clean (clean as a £5 hand wash will do) and had no damage.

Slight condensation in the headlights which I'm expecting to clear up and had the same issue with the "rust"(?) on the exhaust trim on the other page. Both noted down on the delivery slip so will see how we fair with the local Renault place shortly.

Drives very well! Love the rear wheel steer if a slightly strange feeling at first. Suspension feels well judged and not crazy stiff (though I have had several previous cup chassis Renaults so might be used to it and knew what to expect). Pulls well and the exhaust in race mode is hilarious. Seats are decent, steering wheel too. Also much appreciate having a proper manual handbrake...

Had a previous MK3 Meg Trophy and this feels better to me. I might have had a dodgy car but the gearshift feels vastly improved and the sound is much better, the akra in the MK3 didn't quite live up to the hype unfortunately.

Might already know but "perso" mode can be configured to your own settings. I've got everything in race with esc on sport (race default is off).

Good luck everyone else with their cars 👍

If your worried about a tiny bit of rust on the exhaust exit good job you didn’t get the Abarth deal me & Luke had.
Mine looked like exhaust had been stored in salt water, even so Solvol Autosol cleaned that up at least what you could see.
Anyone tried cleaning the exit area too cold & wet so far for me.

Wasn't a deal breaker at all, honestly if not seeing it on here I probably wouldn't have noticed. You're right a bit of autosol should clear it up and save the dealership pain

Keep us informed if you find any hidden setups.
Checking tyre pressures at weekend, remember my last two being high from shipping.

And delivered. A bit dirty, with the aforementioned “rust” on exhaust, but no worse than what I’ve had delivered before to me. Will give it a good polish over the weekend!

What’s everyone’s service schedule set to? The dealer told me this morning that the clock started ticking when registered, but mine is showing the full 12000/12 months to oil service.

Just ordered a 'basic' Megane 280 RS for the wife to replace a Golf GTi, factory order for June. She's gone for Mercury Silver, which doesn't seem very common, but they have one in that colour at the local dealer and it looks great.
