Ohh, a bold choice that.... I had a Morning Frost V12V with half chancellor red interior and half obsidian and a lot of people thought that was brave (although most agreed it looked great).
That's a full Spicy Red interior I believe... It's quite vivid red in real life.... Looks good to me, but Im sure some will say its too much.

Yeah be careful of the cat D issue.
I would get a really good independent pre purchase inspection done and find out all accident history, what happened, what the damage was and what repair was carried out.
Also might be difficult to sell on when you decide to move on.
But on the plus side it's a DB9.2 and defo a fantastic car.

yes quite aware of the D marker, thats one of the reasons im looking at it. D is superficial damage. some say they are harder to sell.. personally from what iv seen if priced accordingly someone is always looking for the cheapest way in to owning something they couldn't otherwise afford.
That looks a cracking car. I nearly did something similar a few years back. As you say it can get you a car you couldn't otherwise afford. On that basis there is one other concern though and that is if not careful you could buy a car you might not be able to afford to sort if you miss an issue during inspection. The car I nearly purchased was water damage and I've since read horror stories on the potentials down the line with that.
Go in price wise knowing it will be harder to sell down the line and as you say you would have a real beauty on your drive.
Im a boring bd but in that awesome white which has qualities you can't appreciate until you've seen it in all lighting conditions and the red interior it looks the tits.

I'd never touch a Cat D and I'm guessing buying would be a case of caveat emptor; if it blows up on the way home, tough luck. I'd make sure you understood exactly what was wrong with it that made it an uneconomical repair for an insurance company - on face value, that would mean a repair that would have cost more than £40k-odd.
Morning frost white with a red interior wow snap! I personally love it but that's why I bought one. The spicy red, really is a bold choice but who cares if you like it. I vaguely remember seeing that car for sale a few years ago around the time I bought mine. It was the cat D marker that put me off. I paid more but bought a HPI clear car. Again there is no right or wrong when buying a categorized car. As long as it's done right and you pay accordingly it 'should' be fine. Depending on the damage, the parts bill from AM dealers could soon become massive, hence making it uneconomical to repair. Its worth a look if nothing else. I'm actually not far from Bradford and have almost the same same car, interior is lordes red. Any excuse for some gratuitous shots.....

wow shuzzy thats a nice motor!! what are the wheels you have on?? they look bigger than the car im looking at has yours been lowered??
The wheels are original DB9.2 wheels, there were 2 types available when new. Mine actually had the same as the one for sale originally (tuning fork I think they are referred to as). However I much preferred the design of these so swapped over. It's not lowered, standard suspension set up. However I agree from the angle of the photos it seems to sit quite squat. I would actually like to lower it a bit, as I think the rear especially sits a bit high, but not prepared to mess the suspension about.
