Craig at Dynotorque built one of these, albeit a white one that stayed NA, but was similar in terms of lots of Monaro bits underneath, although they had to chop and narrow the subframe and such to fit under the Omega.

Awful wheels on that one, but otherwise a great sleeper hehe

Can't imagine it'll sell for a lot though, bid is currently at £8,500 which is a lot of drivetrain for the money at least

"Massive Harrop 112" lol....despite it being a baby blower.

If it is done well, and works and is tuned properly on the LPG etc...it does have potential.

I'd have that, if only for the automatic windscreen wipers, the only thing I miss about my old Omega.

I stumbled across this car on eBay earlier today. If the work has been done well this must be an awesome load-lugger. Vauxhall / Opel really should have been brave enough to make these in the factory.

Yeah this is quite an appealing prospect! I wouldn't be brave enough as would surely need to be fairly handy with the spanners for general tinkering but would have been good if it had been official - the predecessor to the one-off vxr8 wagon that came here I guess!

I did read somewhere that opel were thinking to do the LS in an omega, but it did not stand up to autobahn testing. It would overheat on long full throttle stretches. Probably not enough airflow in the engine bay.

According to Wikipedia they displayed the V8 Omega at the 2000 Geneva motor show but cancelled it before production started because of concerns it would fail under autobahn conditions.

I learned the german phrase vollgasfest ( full throttle resistant ) when I originally read about this.

Currently 10K and reserve not met, don't think it's going cheap.

It's good it's got LPG from a cost point of view, but now not much space in the back so not a very good estate car ?!

19,300 at the moment!!

you'd get a supercharged Monaro for less, surely!

Maybe wants to get laid up insurance with an agreed value of £20k or something, so has listed it for sale and got his mates to bid it up hehe

I don't believe anyone is willing to pay £20k plus for an Omega estate with some Monaro bits in it.

The pictures are shoddy too, different wheels, different stages of the build (with / without supercharger), I just don't see a genuine buyer throwing that sort of money at that car.

Reserve not met?! This must be a hoax or something.
And as someone else has put, nobody surely would pay that sort of money for an old Omega estate?
I'd say its worth £8k tops, but that's just me.

Yeah, as with all manual LS drivetrains, the oily bits are worth £5k easily, supercharger on it another couple of thousand perhaps, and then after that, you've got a chopped up old Omega estate on some dodgy wheels.

Yes it's had a lot of time put into it (possibly, or it's a right old bodge job, you'll not know until it falls apart on you) but really £10k at best if someone really does like their Omegas / sleepers. Perhaps his wife has told him it has to go, so he's put it up on ebay to prove it won't sell... hehe

I like how it says 'bidder identity protected' if you look at who has bid on it. Can't say you see that very often. Something not right with the car/ad etc.

Yep sadly dodgey bidding I feel, but at least I think he said ' if it doesn't sell I'll store it away' - well he's got his wish !!

10k at very most to me. Not a chance it would ever go for the high bid!

it does sound a little off....but that video in general is absolutely cringeworthy. Scary to think he has 1/2M subscribers !
