You would of had to take LSD to buy one of these.
Yet another average car, and yet another step back from the glory days of the badass Turbo 1&2.
Why can't Renault just take a chance and produce some nuts auto that really shocks us all.
Its not like they haven't got the technology.

What so the old Clio V6 wasnt nuts enough for you?

could have been better, all things considered........

It needs a 2.4l v8 in the middle, rear wheel drive at the back and an f1 style gearbox to convincingly cash in on their F1 success. Giving it some stickers and an extra 5bhp doesn't cut it for me. neither does the fact that the Megane is hideous.

I think the power is crap for what it is. 225 bhp from a 2.0 turbo charged engine?! How rubbish is that.

Power figures aren't everything, even torque figures don't give you the whole story, you need to see the curves for each and drive the cars to see how well they work.

My Cupra-R was a 1.8L with a turbo producing 225PS (222bhp) and could feel very weak and breathless at time, while the 2.5L turbo in the Focus ST feels great, log of grunt and urge right through the rev range. You'll often find that peak bhp impair peak torque figures, and in real-world driving lb/ft is what you want.

It's easy to look at something like an Evo with up to 340bhp (or even 400bhp), but consider the low service intervals (4500 miles) more expensive parts etc. The Megane is a hot-hatch at the end of the day, it has to do the hatch part as well as the hot bit, so the porformance has to be realistic, especially as I wouldn't be surprised if it has the Renault 18000 mile / 2 year service interval.
