no it wasn't.

it was the seal on the glass that was the problem and was told a new windsreen was needed, but the seal was repaired so its all ok

That's lucky!

My rear screen shattered randomly a month or two ago, and I didn't have my insurers phone number on me, so I rung Autoglass (assuming they would be the company contracted by my insurer for glass repairs). It turned out they weren't and they said RAC Windscreens would be the company for Admiral, but they offered me a quote anyway - about £320 + VAT + fitting.

So I'm fairly glad I didn't have to pay any more than the £50 glass excess, and I'll always make sure any future policies have glass cover on them!

I got a quote from the RAC for a Xantia for £120 fitted
But got it done on insurance in the end, £50
