Busy with wifes car at the moment and have got round to the cracked front valance.
It's a 2000 (W) HDi and the plastic has cracked fron the bottom edge up and then longitudinally cross the front of the car (about 150 - 200mm).
Tried to repair ir previously, from behind, with resin/matting etc but it doesn't readily stick to the plastic. Everything else but not the plastic.
Been thinking that a small lip spoiler would reinforce the area, I don't want anything OTT just something inconspicuous. Any suggestions.
Regards

Well tony,

you'll be pleased to hear that the lip spoiler from the GTI6 will fit straight on. The HDI and the '6 look identical bar this little black strip that attaches to the bottom of the bumper. that should provide some rigidity and also sharpen up the front of the car into the bargain.

dont know part no. im afraid, but Pug will be able to sort you out. then you may well be able to find one off a scrapy or alternatively, you could try here and do a search in the for sale section

good luck fella.

Brilliant, thanks. Will look out for a one on the road, or a pic of one, and then pop off to the local dealer, (100 miles away in Inverness)

Hi asbo, been talking to the pug dealer, they list 2 different spoilers and tell me all 306's had a little lip spoiler, ours certainly doesn't so wonder about his info. Can you confirm the S16 front and the HDi front are otherwise similar or is that more of a "looks similar"?
ps been trying to register for the pug306 web site but whilst I am now registered I cannot read any forums or sales or whatever.

The S16 is a different bumper to the phase 2 and 3 spoilers.

I'm pretty sure all Hdi's are phase 3's, and so they had the round foglight bumpers, and specifically the same chin strap spoilers as the Gti6... however, the only cars to have them fit originally were the phase 2 Gti6 and Rallye's, who's side skirts were painted black on their lower halves, and the chin spoiler carried on the black band theme.

None of my phase 3's or any of owners have ever had it fitted OEM, many seem to think it was in a wrapper in the boot upon delivery, and many dealers just didn't fit them...

Anyway, I digress.

Spoiler clearly visible on this one...

I'll get the part number tomorrow evening and post it up.

That looks similar, her HDi has the round fogs, (where are they on that photo? wife smashed one with a stone thrown up from another vahicle and been looking for a protective cover for the replacement ever since).
Her bumper has the holes too, was beginning to think it might have dropped off.

thanks very much for all help/advice

Thanks everyone, job's a good'un
GTi - 6 /rallye spoiler fits perfectly, if a bit tricky getting the screws to turn in the plastic whilst underneath the car which is dripping wet!

Small drill bit and pre-tap the holes, OR, screw the screw's so they self-tap but off the car, then doing it on the car is lots easier.

Glad it's sorted then, that should reinforce the bendy front bumper
