Not much point spending on the 8v engine for just a road car. Far more economical to fit an MI16, XU10 turbo or even turbocharge the XU9 8v.

If you wish to keep the current engine then spend your money renewing all the suspension parts (including bushes), tyres, brakes etc.

With regards to the “kangarooing” the only real way to cure it is to replace the Jetronic ignition with the more modern Motronic from a late 205 or 106/306 etc.
