Good choice. Im going to check the loom for the coil cos we arnt getting a spark off the plugs but that could be because it isnt letting the current through to the coil.

Cheers i will look into that.

not worked on many peugeots but worth checking the tdc sensor around the bellhousing area if you have no joy with the immobiliser

We checked the current going into the harness for the coil and there is no voltage there either on the ignition or when the engine is being cranked. I think it is all pointing towards the immobiliser. I think sorrento205 has hit the nail on the head.

Would it need to be a main dealer on this asspect of the car or can it be played with buy a diy mechanic?

Is the car a Mk1 or 2? If its a Mk1 (like mine), then the dashboard beeps if you try turning it over with the imobiliser engaged. The Mk1 cars have a keypad where you have to enter a code, where as the Mk2 is controlled by the key. If you suspect the problem to be the imobiliser, how about running a live feed from the battery to the coil harness. If this cures the problem, then perhaps the issue could be a fuse or dodgy connection.

I would also imagine that the imobiliser would control the fuel pump, so perhaps check to see if this is priming with the ignition on. If it isn't, it would suggest an imobiliser fault perhaps, however if it primes/works, then the fault may be a fuse/dodgy connection again on the coil side of things. Try the live feed trick above, and see if the car continues to run for a few minutes.

Just a thought!

I have just spoke to my brother in law who use to work for peugeot. He said because we used NGK spark plugs they have sent a spike down the current to the ECU and blown the ECU. We phoned the AA out and he confirmed it.

So the next question is?

Are they interchangable?

Is it main dealer only?

If I get one with the exact same numbers on the bar code will it just go straight in?

How much?

Cheers Brian

If you get an ecu with all the same codes on it it will fit, but you would have to have the immobiliser code redone.

We tested it with a voltmeter across the connections with the ignition on then when the engine was turning over as well. No voltage was present.

My brother is giving it to a peugeot master technician to do the work now so i will post the fault that it was.

Cheers For all the help guys

Fingers crossed

All sorted. We had a Peugeot mechanic look at it last night. He re-prgramed the keys and hay presto.

All down to a rolling key combination that got it wrong.

4 weeks without a car because of a key code. Nightmare.

Cheers for the ideas guys.
