apparently Matched Inlet manifolds, a Ph1 airbox with decent filter, a decent 2.5" exhaust & sports cat & a good re-map are the best & most cost effective ways - been doing a lot of investigation myself as I want more from my 172 Cup. A lot of people rate the 182 exhaust manifold upgrade but this can get expensive if you can't do it yourself, a 5hr job I'm told.

Definitely get in touch with Andrew Hughes at Yozzasport. Very near to you. Quite hard to get more power without spending a bit. My cup had schrick cams and lots of other bits, all done by Yozza. Top bloke. See his website.

Andy's a great bloke. Very helpful.

Re. engine tuning, don't bother. Pound for pound it's not worth it. Your better off stickin it on the track and enjoying it.

Thats if you can get hold of anyone there, I've given up even bothering with yozza now as i've just been ignored one too many times now.

Id suggest:

Matched inlets
v6 airbox
98 ROM Remap

or, simply get the JMS RS2 Intake manifold - adds a dyno proven 18bhp on an otherwise standard and of course, adds some carbon fibre goodness to your engine bay wink

F4R's are very difficult to get power out of though unfortunately, Jenvey throttle bodies give a similar increase, but cost at least £2.5k ...

Have some driving tuition and learn to drive it faster. I've used mine on the track once so far and the only thing that needs changing is the brakes as they struggle under heavy use. It's a very capable car out of the box and chasing an extra few bhp is a waste of money IMO.

Brembo HC plain discs
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Braided lines
Castrol Response Super Dot 4

Done.

Thanks for the shopping list.

I managed to destroy the bearings in the nearside rear wheel on the track day, I've got replacement discs/bearings from Renault, is it an easy DIY job?

Great profile picture, I was there at the end of May, next time I'll be taking the 172.

No problem biggrin glad you like the pic, although i've got a Trophy now, will hopefully take it out there at some point over the summer...

Rear discs are easy enough if you have a decent enough toolkit!!

If you're not already, id also recommend joining www.cliosport.net - some great deals in the trader section, & a wealth of info if you sift through all the crap ...

You'd be surprised at power figures on a 172/182. Very rarely they'll reach those figures on a rolling road.

My next plan for my 182 is a custom remap for harder valve timing and raise the rev limiter to 8k. Thats worth it for £200 imo... Focus more on the power delivery and driveability.

I wouldn't advise chasing figures.

Whose doing that for you?

Or is it a Henk style RS-Tuner map ?

Nope a guy based near me called big fish tuning. It's similar to the henk map but since hes a close friend hes willing to test different maps to suit. Hes a genious!

Can you give a bit more info on the 98 ROM remap? Is that a spelling mistake, meant to be 'RON'? I only ask because it's recommended to use 98 as standard.

Yup, typo. Taken from the 'JMS' section of Cliosport:

The benefits of the remap on a 172/182:
- Increased power and torque gain throughout the rev range.
- Massively improved low and mid range power delivery, creating a smoother power curve.
- Significantly sharper throttle response at all RPMs.
- Improved economy under motorway & 'normal' driving.
- Slightly raised RPM limiter to make the most of the upper RPM power.
- Removes flat spots that can often occur after modifications such as decats.
- Maximises on the cars potential if allied with other common modifications such as exhausts/induction/matched inlets.

Thanks. Do you know how much it is off the top of your head? I'd check myself but their website is down. Are their remaps better than K Tec?
