£22k Bentley Continental GT - running costs?
Discussion
The CGT is an expensive car to run and doesn't respond well to neglect (I know because I run a Bentley specialist!). They are lovely, lovely cars but I would recommend they are looked after people who are familiar with their foibles as quick, cheap servicing will cost you in the long run. I'll take a good example... if the front scuttle panel isn't cleaned out regularly the wiring loom will rot through requiring a new loom which requires the entire interior out to fit and that wouldn't get done in a £60 service.

Someone once told be the alternator was an engine out job? (I think it was the alternator!)Just seen this thread so thought I would post a few lines.
Many, many years ago I worked for a gearbox company who serviced gearboxes for Rolls Royse. The price for O rings and gaskets was outrageous to the customer. The thing was the customer never got RR parts as such as it was a GM box and the rings and gaskets came out of their service pack and not the RR pack. The RR service parts sold at 12 x the price of the GM ones. Now I'm pulling things out of my memory of 30 years ago but it shocked me then as it does now.

Wish I could afford 30k for a second car! Haha.
Sorry I've not read all of this thread but the GT is really a "big boys toy" It's all fine and well paying low 20k for one but as with all cars originally costing £100k they are expensive to run, service and repair. Tyres are £300 each for 19" services even at an independant will cost you £400 and £800ish. I've owned mine for 4 years now It's a 2005 model and it's been very reliable plus I've got the Bentley warranty which has covered most things but a daft thing like the rear high level brake light repair is a glass out job and costs circa £800, Brakes are very expensive remember these were the biggest brakes ever to be fitted to a production car at the time. You would have to allow something like £3-4000 a year to run excluding fuel and insurance however on the plus side it probably wont depreciate a great deal. I love mine It's easilty the best all round car I've owned but in my opinion the millage is too high there are plenty of these about with very low miles, even mine is quite high at 52k which is 7k/year, and some of these will never of been anywhere but the main dealer.
