Hi All,

I am looking into getting myself a new car and as usual there are a number of potential options. One is a 2014 ish Bentley Continental V8S.

I really like the way they look and love the idea of owning a prestige car like a Bentley. Also like the fact that it is a big comfortable GT car and the S is still capable of being fairly brisk and sporty if pushed (also like the 4WD!)

So wanted to get people’s views of these, anything to worry about, any positives etc. Any owners have any views would be useful!

Cheers!

Zanderman, I have a 2015 V8S and it is a fabulous car. It is much quicker and stable than you think, plus a lovely place to be. One word of caution, buy it well, I have just had an offer from the dealer to buy it back and it was derisory. Are you in the North by any chance, I am happy to help you in any way. Plus the changes have made them age in a nice way.

Love mine, however despite the Volkswagen influence it's still a bit "quirky" regarding build quality compared to a Porsche for example.

Sports exhaust option is a must although I think most S's were specced as such. Also make sure it's got Naim audio, standard set up is rubbish imo!

Other than that, it's a well planted, swift and useable exotic

Thanks for the response! I must admit residual values worry me with these. The 2014/15 cars are pretty expensive still and they do seem to drop like a stone. Not my first concern and havent really worried about it before but the chance to get stung hard is definitly there with a car of this cost. I am looking at a pre face lift car as I prefer the look.

What are the back seats like, they seem a decent size but are they actually usable?

Nowhere near the North sadly but thanks for the offer, i will go and have a look at one as my local dealer has a couple.

Really like the idea of the Naim uadio, I have some at home and it is amazing kit! There dont seem to be that many with that option unfortunately.

What do you mean by 'quirky'?

Definitely worth it if you can find one with Naim.

Quirky as in hand built, which is not a bad thing but sometimes takes a bit longer to get right. Mines been back for some fettling to sort various squeaks and rattles, however I'd expect any used cars will have been sorted if there was an issue.

Ah OK, makes sense! How are the back seats, are they usable?

I would say the back seats are usable, behind the driver is not great. The boot is mighty though. I know what you say about not worrying about residuals but they chop a lot off the new ones so you have to be careful. I think once production ends prices will firm up as they are a lot of car for the money. I think the sports exhaust as stated by another PH'er is essential, I believe the Mulliner pack is as well. Also I believe the colour combination is important as well.
