Anybody rebuilt their V8 engine at home?

Any trouble getting the distributor drive gear off the cam?

According to the workshop manual and parts manual, there's no woodruff key. The two set screws are offset which prevents the gear from rotating on the camshaft.

Can you get a two-finger puller in once the distributor shaft & gear have been removed?

Cheers,
Jeff.

Thanks.

No. You can't. Its a skew gear and I suspect the out edges too fragile.

I'll try a bit more heat.

Yeah, heat's probably the only thing for it then. Let us know how you get on with it.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Need to remove the gear off the front and the thrust plate, then you can tap the cam out through the dizzy drive gear!

Ahh... so it comes out the back instead of out the front.

Cheers,
Jeff.
