I've owned two Bentleys - One was a 2016 Mulsanne Speed and the other a 2020 Continental GTC W12. I bought them both new.

I lost £51,000 in 16 months and 10k miles on the Mulsanne (even after it was reduced by more than £100k) - Real loss if I'd paid RRP would have been £163,000 in 16 months!!

The Continental GTC W12 lost £32,000 in 3 months and I drove it less than 100 miles!! - Real loss if I'd paid RRP would have been £52,000 in 3 months!!

You will obviously reduce this loss slightly by buying a used example with 10-20k miles, but expect to get shafted when you come to sell, especially if you're like me and don't stick with the expected term, in your case 5 years.

Personally, I would only ever buy another Bentley if the previous owners have already taken somewhere in the region of 70% of its depreciation.

I'll probably look to pick up another low mileage Continental GTC W12 at around £70,000 - I don't think I'll have to wait too long......

Myself and many others on here will tell you, they've never lost as much money on a car, as they have on a Bentley!!

I lost far more on my McLaren than both my bentleys put together, I’m looking for new shape GTC but prices have gone crazy and I’m not buying at the top of the market.

They are well above pre-pandemic levels it appears.

You're absolutely right Ted, prices on everything have gone absolutely crazy at the moment - Personally I wouldn't buy anything right now.

Many buyers are currently paying significantly over the odds, and will likely take a double hit when the come to sell, once the market has corrected.

I got ridiculously lucky in this respect. So much so I’ve told the story several times elsewhere, to the point I’m boring even myself.

I got a GT v8, about 30k miles, 10 months ago. Just shifted at WBAC, for almost exactly what I paid (plus or minus £200 if I recall). Had one minor problem during ownership but a £500 fix.

Pleased as punch, as I scratched the itch and spent barely anything at all.

In my heart I wanted a nice Turbo R… but head was touching the roof liner. Just couldn’t make it work. Shame; not sure if I’ll come back to the marque now, leaving me at a loose end.

Loved the v8 but, not enough to walk away when the time was right.
