Mpg what do you think?

Driving my 2004 CGT, around town I usually get around 8mpg, leaving it on auto.
I know it's cold and so and that maybe a reason, but I do also switch off AC.
Anyway driving today in manual and paddle shift only, driving nice and easy 4th gear 30mpg I was getting 14mpg!
Drive on the eay back, a bit more on the accelerator and got average 12mpg.
I know most people will say if you can't afford petrol don't drive a Bentley, but that is not my issue, I will drive 3000 miles a year so it will be a great experience.
What am suprised about is how ineffective the auto mode is, perhaps a job for van com or a lazy 3rd gear at 30kpg, not sure

Also sport mode is great, instead of 8 mpg I get 6/7mpgb which I think is Brill!!

Very much depends on type and style of driver you are really on a run to Bristol from Bedford with the w12 I'd get 28mpg at 75mph over 300 miles around town maybe I'd get 6.5 /7mpg. Average over a full tank was around the 21.5mpg mark so driven carefully it's not actually too bad as a daily when you consider the V12 in the lambo was getting 4mpg in town and maybe 13mpg on the motorway on the same indentical trip to Bristol both 6 litres and the Murci was 950kgs lighter.

The lambo must be similar to a ferrari they do about 4 or 5 mpg.
I think the Bentley is made to effortly cruise to Europe, with great comfort and speed.
Even with loads of traffic/many cars about and with the very bad roads, I think it is a great everyday car. especially in the wet or snow.
Going back Mpg that should be the least concern, the tax is good and insurance is reasonable too, on a older car like mine depreciation is also notan issue and neither is servicing, it is when you get an issue then you are talking a few £k, so you need put that aside, this is regardless of whether you can use some vw parts.
Be careful how you measure it - don’t trust the gauge. I had my GT Speed for 40000 miles and measured mpg for every tankful, brim to brim (I do it for all cars, obsessively). I got just under 18mpg over that time with some seasonal variation. Was my daily driver used for commuting in a city as well as longer holiday trips.
