Hi there! I'm new here, and also a new Bentley owner. Just bought a 2012 Mulsanne with around 100.000km on the clock with full main dealer service history and no accidents no resprays.

There are couple of thinks, that need sorting out, though:

1. the bonnet struts don't hold the bonnet up
2. is it normal, that when I press the black B on the boot lid, the lid opens, but I have to push it second time to fully open it?
3. are the windows supposed to have "one click open and close" funtion, aren't they? I need to hold the button to either close the window, or open.
4. the Naim stereo system doesn't play music from my iPhone. is it really that old-fashioned?

Other than that, the car is amazing and I love so much.

Thanks for the comments, and have a nice day!

Hi Korte,

Good to have you on here. From memory, I think the following applies to the Mulsanne:

1) Bonnet - sounds like you need new gas struts. And make sure the hinge mechanism / gas strut ball joints are cleaned and then lubricated.
2) B on bootlid - this should be a one press to open and then raise. It could be a number of things causing this to need 2 presses - slightly low battery, hinge mechanism sticking / binding, latch not fully releasing, weak gas struts. I'd check it over mechanically first - then see if it has any fault codes flagged. Do you have access to an OBD reader? Does it move smoothly on the close cycle? Any issues with the latch catching the bootlid when closing?
3) Windows - these have 2 positions in their open and close movements, a step move and a one-shot close (as per most cars). For the rear windows a second pull (close) raises the blinds. Does the issue happen only on the driver's switch pack or at each door also? This might identify if it was a local switch issue or more of a software / calibration (initialisation) issue. One trick (used on some window systems - not sure about Bentley) is to do a reset of the window calibration - lift the window on the switch, then release and then hold the switch to keep closing the window (for a couple of seconds) - it should click as the window regulator tries to close the window but then recognises that it is at topmost travel. Repeat the same the the down position. This should then give you your one shot open / close again. This can sometimes be required if the batteries have been disconnected.

When taken with the bootlid issue - something is telling me that the car may have had (or has) battery issues. How new are the batteries? Are they kept topped up? This era of Bentleys are sensitive to battery voltage and can drain quite quickly if left unused.

4) NAIM stereo i Phone connection - ermmm.... not sure - infotainment and connectivity weren't my areas!

Hope these help a little. I am sure other ex-Bentley types can chip in with their views or one of the many excellent independents....

I am sure PH would love to see a picture of it. Let us know how you get on!

Take care,

AF
