Me and 2 friends hooned up to Goodwood yesterday just to see what was going on. We also stopped into Aston Martins new dealership (Looked great) aswell as Bentleys. (Harwoods).

It really is good there, In both dealerships the staff are very friendly and helpful...

No problem giving the time to have a good old natter about the cars. They obviously know we are in know position to purchase (Even though my dad is looking for a Porsche C2S and my friends dad is looking for a Continental GT laugh)

In comparison to Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari... I would now more than likely invest in an Aston or Bentley because of the staff and my experiences. And of course I LOVE both brands current models as well...

Even though my favourite car is the LP640, Lamborghini as a company, Really are a bunch of arse holes! laugh Wont even let you in the dealership in London laugh

Pointless post I know.

Not pointless at all. It's good to know that the sales staff of Bentley and A-M are sowing seeds for the future - today's impoverished student may be tomorrow's customer. I can remember being given the red carpet tratement at HR Owen when I was still in short trousers (and my father ran a Morris 1000) - it left an impression on me that I never forgot. I have since owned four Rolls-Royces and three Bentleys (now of them bought new, however!).

Keep on dreaming!

Porsche didnt give me and my friend the time of day, however they were happy to let us rome around. Aston Martin again were the friendliest but Ferrari werent. Didnt see a Bentley dealership.

My ex PA now works for a local lifestyle magazine and sold Harwoods an advert in the mag recently. They lent her a GTC for a long weekend and a day at Dunsfold on the Top Gear track.

Certainly beats the use of an M reg Clio she had working for me hehe

That's good to hear, I've always found Jaguar to be exactly the same, I remember sitting in the original XK8 when it came out with all my mates after Uni and they couldn't be friendlier - definitely sows a seed for when I can buy one of their cars

With Porsche I think it depends on the dealer - Chiswick wouldn't give me the time of day, although I did test a Boxster S there. Guildford on the other hand couldn't have been friendlier

First impressions are the lasting ones!

i was killing some time whilst on a course with work in exeter few years ago, aston martin/jag were very helpful, they knew aswell as i did i didn't have 100k for a car but still made the effort to get out his seat have a chat about cars the new astons/jags engines and stuff, even asked if i was interested in a job in sales there!

Sadly i also visited the late westcountry bentley, the chap behind the desk bellowed across the showroom advised he was closed and to go back out the door. never have i felt so badly treated as a potential customer.

Ah yes, Lambo people! I had a Murcielago which a certain Lambo dealer borrowed whilst in their care (without my knowledge or permission), had an accident in it, badly resprayed it and then told me it was like that when they collected it from me. Lawyers involved, I won. This was a brand new car purchased from them too.

Bentley, on the other hand, couldn't have been nicer - but top marks will always go to Creamers in Kensington who looked after my Jaguars...

The net result of this is that I would never have another Lambo.

LOL well they are.

I know 4 people who have bought a CGT from them and the service is superb.

But this should be expected when parting with large sums of cash!

yes I bought my first Jaguar from Creamers - absolutely fantastic people to deal with.

IMHO both dealers and manufacturers frequently underestimate the value of a little courtesy. Today's schoolboy IS tomorrow's customer. Unfortunately some high end dealers, particularly UK Porsche dealers in my experience, feel that being arrogant and anal creates a superior impression.

Rolls, Bentley and Aston on the other hand have always been good at this, and provided it doesn't distract them from actual sales, what harm can it do to treat some spotty youth with a bit of courtesy and give them a coffee and a few brochures? Capture a customer at that age and you will have them for life.

The trouble is that the average salesmans career is not going to stretch over the years required - so spending time with spotty Kevin is not going to result in a sale.

I think people like Lamborghini could try starting being open and honest with existing customers.

I have bought several Bentleys and R ange Rovers from Harwoods Sussex over the last 20 years. Without doubt one of the nicest garages around. And if you have a problem,they are on your side trying to solve it,unlike others who wish you would go away.. Harry Diamond.

And that Mon Ami is the problem. What you need is quality sales people with higher status and a stake in the business and a long term perspective. That's the answer, depend on it.
