why don't you ask MINI that question
I personally think it's fantastic. I love the country I live in
Maybe someone should? I would say they already have TBH.I personally think it's fantastic. I love the country I live in
I dont see BMW putting little german flags in to the tail lights of 1 series or 3 series so not sure why they've enforced it on everyone with the MINI.
Yes, if people want to go down that route then great, however make it an optional extra - a free one if they want - but mandatory...? Nope.

I believe the Union Jack LED lights will be standard, as will LED Headlights. The video on their website shows the car with it.
LED headlights are an option. The Union Jack rear LED lights only come with the LED Headlights option.Anything i've read says that LED headlights are now standard across the range.
EDIT: In fact its on BMWs press release website
https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/united-kingdom/arti...
"New technology, cutting-edge connectivity, standard-fit front and rear LED lights across the range"

The union lights do look good -

There seems to be a mismatch between what Mini are saying and what the BMW press release says. I guess we need to wait for the new configuration tool to be available. The standard car on the updated mini website only has halogens on the front, so should have the standard rear lights.
They've really dropped a ball with not having the configurator up and running.Apparently even the system the dealers are using isnt adding / costing options correctly....
The configurator will be back online next week
LOL at the comment of German flag on a BMW 1 series it's not quite the same. The MINI is an iconic British car so no surprise it would have Union jacks rear lights as standard.
The lights are quite tame I don't get all the fuss personally. I like them.
I've asked my dealer for the part number for them then will buy and see if they work on my current F56 (which already has LEDs)

The original Mini was - this is the german owned variant built on the new 1 series BMW platform, so not terribly "british".So yes, for many it is a "surprise" that BMW have chosen to enforce Union Jacks in the tail lights.

nowI've placed the final order today for a MCS LCI with DCT being delivered mid-March. It's definitely got LED front headlights & UJ LED rear lights(standard on all models) as per the BMW press release mentioned in other threads. Matrix LED headlights are a £490 option, if Chilli pack chosen. MINI have taken the opportunity to put their prices up, £1100 on the base manual MCS without any extras. Some options have increased. Leather seats now £1075, £590 for pre LCI model. 17 in Cosmos Black alloys up from £100 to £550!
The dealers do have the configurator available to them now, but not to the public yet. Probably as MINI need to flog off the pre LCI models. Brave decision by BMW/MINI re the UJ lights. I really like them, but Marmite comes to mind.

Yup. They're still merrily building away at pre LCI cars. I got a build slot for this week, having only placed an order last week.I'm not bothered by the LCI additions. Apparently there is no Seven in the LCI range - which is the car i ordered, and prices seem to be up significantly and i suspect discounts are down, so all i'd be doing is paying significantly more and not getting a Seven.
I'll play around with the configurator when it becomes public facing, but at this stage i've no qualms about running with a non LCI, non Union Jack'ed car

Fair comment daemon. Enjoy your car when you get it. I think they will changeover to LCI model builds in mid-late February.I'm not bothered by the LCI additions. I got a decent discount, the value of which I'll keep to myself, but I played hardball for it & got a decent p/x price/cost to change by agreeing to pay the balance by PCP, and then will settle the o/s amount asap- BTW, it was 15 days, but MINI have got wise and it's now 56!
It's still better though, as MINI are providing £1300 contributions, and interest charge will be about £250.
We decided to wait for an LCI car, as there might be a better residual at selling time.

You might have seen my thread already, but theres pics of what mine should look like

I've added anthracite headcloth, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, centre arm rest, LEDs, HK sound and driving modes to the Seven pack.

Any news on the part number for the Union Jack lights?
Talk to your local parts dept...They appear on Real OEM now, but listed as unavailable with no part number. I would imagine they'll be active on the actual internal system very soon if not already.

As it happens, I ended up with another BMW group product, as we're offered discounts through work.

Just seems a bit strange to mention how well you did but not provide details.
As above, genuine question.

Engine- made in Birmingham
Panels- ALL made in Swindon
Seats - made in Grenwich
Bumper assemblies - built in Banbury
Wheels and tyres - assembled in kiddlington
Interior panels- wales
Yes MINI is owned by Germans but the Brits do have a little to do with it.
