What have you done to your Mini today ?

I've had a very annoying rattle from the rear of my R58 Cooper S since I picked it up last month. I've had the parcel shelf out, all the plastic trim removed around the boot lid and adjusted the 4 rubber bump stops. Nothing worked. I found a rather obscure fix on a US forum and someone wound tape around the eye of the latch. I was highly skeptical however it's resolved the rattle.
It's the passenger seat belt bucklle that chatters between the seat and door next.

had exactly this in an Audi - didn't think it was but it was. It's the passenger seat belt bucklle that chatters between the seat and door next.
Refitted tuning box (car was in for warranty work a couple of weeks ago), so back up to 250BHPish
Handwash last night with a good wash / wax using a mitt and the two bucket method as always. dried, hoovered out, tyres slicked and popped back in the garage
Touched in two stone chips i found.
Two stage polish today using Poorboy's Black Hole Polish then Poorboy's EX-P Pure Sealant.
Put back in the garage.
All set for winter

Not all in a day, but last week I was a busy lad..... Well old man really !!
My 2008 Cooper S has been suffering a misfire on start up ( 5 seconds ish ) on cylinder 4 only and although the timing chain has no major rattles it was a little too loose. So having prepped the garage with all the bits required I walnut bashed the valves ( they were yuk ! ), sent the the injectors off for servicing and changed the timing chain and guides.
No real issues. The blasting was fun. I bought a Sealey sand blaster ( £37 ), modified the gun and it worked very well with my compressor. I used an old upright dyson to collect the walnut shrapnel and that worked well too...yes really !!
Only problems were the timing kit flywheel locking pin needed trimming to fit, a bit of a pain, and torquing down the crankshaft nut and camshaft sprockets was pretty scary. I'm old school....use to woodruff keys....much friendlier.
However, she now runs very sweet. I've lost the misfire and she runs noticably quieter. And having changed all the turbo flexy rubber pipes for silicone the throttle response is much better. Shame winters coming as my car is a hobby and spends most of the winter in the garage, but hopefully some cold but dry turbo days will appear.....

Indeed the Racechips GTS tuning box. Very good indeed. I'd initial problems as the wiring loom seems different for a 2018 car, but after getting past the slow, unapologetic, unresponsive customer service and having to ship it back to Germany and wait a month, the tuning box itself has been great.Edit- just seen your other post, Racechips same as I've been looking at for my Clubman

No reason at all to doubt their +54BHP claim (theres some dyno befores and afters on minif56.com done by individuals).

Good work, Bob. Must be pleased with that.
Yes thanks. Fortunately as we know the two faults are very common and well published on you tube so lots of guides to follow. The most pleasing bit was the sharp rise in throttle response. Losing the resonator hose and cabin sound generating hose made pitiful difference the the noise in the cabin ( BMW what were you thinking ? ) but certainly added some instant zip !! Injectors didn't help. After 54K miles only 1 passed as having a recognisable spray pattern. So now just enjoying the fruits of my labours. On the down side I've got a garage littered with walnut shells and a knackered dyson to fix

Last ‘free’ service & MOT today
Rear brakes @ 3mm needed changing.
Was told £210
A quick google, menu price £160
Sorry sir we use a different system, we can do for £160
Nice try !
I was in for an MOT today as well (passed!) but a similar thing happened to the gent in before me. £469 for discs and pads they wanted... he brought up their own website which showed £292! Needless to say, he wasn't happy.Rear brakes @ 3mm needed changing.

I just got a warranty extension quote as well. '13 plate JCW, 47k miles:
Full Comp, £0 excess: £718.70
£250 excess: 398.55
Named Component about £35 less.
Think I'll pass on that...
The extended warranty quotes are ridiculous.
I don't know if they look at the history of your car when quoting (I had a letter send out when the warranty expired) but they wanted £65pm for my F56 Cooper S on 20k miles.
My car was in and out of the dealer constantly a year ago, so wondering if that has an effect.
