That looks pretty good. How did you do the beltline? Just some black wrap - did you remove it, or fit while in situ?

I have only done the front and rear lights, there's so much reflective stuff in the headlights, I think the contrast is okay. The rear lights look much better without the chrome surrounds though ...
Cheers smile with the beltline I ordered it off ebay and it came on a roll and you just cover the chrome with it and cut the edges. I got black gloss(Matt and other colours are available) and it looks really well to be fair.

Agree regards the front lights, I'm pleased with rears on mine too with it being a black car because apart from the chrome exhaust tips everything is black now.
Get the carbon tips too wink
Good shout. thumbup

Ordered a Racechips GTS tuning box, +54BHP so that will take my MCS to around 246BHP. I've also in ITG air filter element in so in theory that should take it to around 250BHP.

woohoo
My mini only has 40bhp...

Its mad when you think about it isnt it? My first car was a 1980 Austin Mini 1000 and i think that was 41BHP. I'd it modded with a 12G295 Cooper head, 1 3/4 carb, 276 Kent Cam and a big more exhaust and it probably still didnt break 60BHP hehe

It didn't need it, because weigh as much as an empty fag packet, partly because of their similar crash characteristics (before the rust set in). Which is another very good reason why it didn't need it...

I've only had a test drive in the 1600 Cooper version of the newer model, it was very smooth and refined. I wouldn't mind betting that 50 in the old car feels like 100 in the new.

And the brakes on the original definitely werent up to the extra power. Drums all round, no discs and no servo...

And yes a head on crash could result in you having an engine on your lap

Yes very much so. So much fun to be had with so little power.

My Cooper S certainly doesnt need extra power but i've done it pretty much just because i can. Plus its amusing as most other drivers on the road think its a little Mini One so it wholly catches them unawares.

Thats the GTS fitted. Comes out of the box at setting '5' so immediately changed it to the highest - '7'

Well pleased, doesnt feel as peaky as the single point Bluespark, feels like theres more power all over the place. Definitely definitely worth doing. Doesnt change the driveability of the car, just makes it FASTER!
Brilliant stuff and I'm really chuffed for you. thumbup

I've been looking forward to your thoughts, I really need one on mine now for sure. smile
I've been looking at these since daemon mentioned them earlier in this thread.

Is there still a difference in the three driving modes (Green, Mid & Sport)?

Does it make any more noise, especially in sport mode and start up?

Yes, theres still a difference in the effect of the modes.

No, its no noisier

If you do go ahead, make sure you have a pair of long nosed pliers with a curved end. A large pair, not the little ones. Worth their weight in gold and turn a real balls of a thing to do in to something very easy.

I ordered these from Amazon as i didnt have any

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01FUO9WIQ/ref...

In the interests of full disclosure and before you order a tuning box from Racechip, over the weekeing mine has been throwing on a P100 error code and i am working with Racechip to understand what the problem is. I am currently away from home until Thursday evening and they are looking pictures of the engine bay with the box fitted to confirm its wired correctly - which it is - so i wont be able to do that until Friday.

Unless i have done something dumb when rigging it up - which i dont believe i have - then i think its going to have to go back, however they say 90% of issues are down to wrongly connected up so i'll have to wait and see. The only other differentiator is my car is Feb 2018 and i "think" there may have been some emissions / ECU changes around Nov 17 so it might be that their chip isnt configured for my car. But i'm hypothesising there.

I'll update on here with progress, however i am doubtful that if it isnt a wiring problem and as such then i'd say it'll be going back for a refund. frown

Thanks Deep Thought, mine is a 2015 JCW. A shame you’re having a few issues. You my well be right on your hypothesising. I’ll read a bit more on it, but think I’ll try it & see. Let’s hope they can find a resolution for you.

No probs. I am sure yours will be fine - if theres 1 chance in 100 of something going wrong, i'm usually the 1....

On the plus side, they've been on the ball with the customer service and seem to be happy to correspond in English.

Make sure you have long nosed curved end pliers though. They're pretty much essential for two of the three connections smile

I used the UPD01008.bin software update to flash the system in my 2015 R58. I'm now at this level, so far I have noticed an improvement in DAB reception and that's it. Reading through the release notes, DAB is not even mentioned. Is this the most up to date release for the system?

Need to look at software update on ours, but for now gave it a quick wash.

Tempted with a JCW exhaust, but it’s the Mrs’ car

OEM JCW or JCW pro kit.

Tyres and alignment too.

Got 12 months MoT on it !!

Only one advisory for a small oil leak (and we won't mention the loose subframe bolts that he found before doing the MoT...)

I used a hardwire kit to get my dashcam powered from the fusebox and not the 12v socket. Took about 60 minutes from start to finish with over half of that getting the plastic internal sill panel back on.
