I am thinking to have a Stage 1 ECU remap for my F60 JCW Countryman (auto).

JF Automotive quotes 280BHP and 400Nm.

Lohen quotes 300BHP and 450Nm.

Both are similar priced and no hardware update is required.

I am not sure which one to go with. Any experience with them before?

I'd say Lohen are amongst the first tier Mini specialists in the country and have probably mapped as many, if not more modern Minis than anyone else using their rolling road. If you've got a Mini and you wanted it mapped, I'd recommend a Mini specialist who uses a trusted mapping system.

They have emailed me the numbers as F60 JCW is not shown on their website. I guess the number is just a target they think achievable.

Ask them what they do to the gearbox map - http://www.p-torque.co.uk/our-services/gearbox-sof... - on an auto, beware of standard tuning files, an RR run and custom map is advisable

Join the MINI specialist forums and check out Performance ECU tuning threads

1320 are well regarded as are P-torque https://uk.bookingbug.com/home/45602-Performance-T...

From personal experience I'd avoid Lohen

Lohen and 1320 will be using the same map (manic) p-torque do not have the best reputation on Mini forums

I think certain Mini forums can be unnecessarily harsh on some tuners and more lenient on others - there are instances where all tuners are likely to have had customer issues, though some of this is down to the poor previous maintenance of cars that then get tuned/mapped (you can understand why when it's easy to get an extra 40% more power from a decat/exhaust/intercooler/plugs and stage 2 map). There is also quite reasonable difference in the cost of mapping between some of the main providers. I'd suggest that anyone that has such power increases has more frequent service intervals, runs upgraded oil and treats their car with more care and runs it on the best fuel with preventative maintenance being the idea.

Yes, there must be both positive and negative experience with any tuners no matter how good they are. There is always an increased risk of hardware failure (or reduction in reliability) once modifications have been done for the car which we will have to accept.

I guess tuning to Lohen specification may have a greater impact on the engine and gearbox. But at the end of the day, no one really knows how F56 / F60 will perform in longer terms (i.e. beyond 3 to 5 years) as F56 has not been introduced long enough to stand for this long-term test.

I still struggle which one to go with...
