I've just bought a 2013 Mini Roadster and wanted to update the sat nav so that it is up to date. I went to a Mini dealership and was told that this is a once off update - so once we update (or if it has already been done) we can never update the system again.

I am now a bit worried to go ahead as we will be locked into the maps as per the last version (2018/1).

Does anyone know if this is correct as it sounds a bit odd that you can only update the satnav once in the whole lifetime of the car. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

That’s not right. It sounds like you and the parts person have got confused- you buy an update - but that update only gets used once. If u want to update the following year then you can buy another update and upload it

Hi

Thanks for the reply, we went to a large dealers and spoke to the part's man and another member of staff and both assured us that it was a 'one off' update and that once done, no further updates in the life of the car could be done.

I was surprised and said that it was not logical to do that as it would not be economical for mini if you could only ever do it once. They even said that we would need to check in case previously in the cars life (its 5 years old), it had been updated as we would not be able to do anything.

It did sound odd and I have looked online and found no mention of this. Do you know when the 'annual' USB is produced, as we may wait for the next one to come out and then update. Thanks again, your reply is much appreciated.
