That's an impressive list of mods. It must be a complete hoot to drive. Enjoy!

A little update

A couple of weeks ago, the GP overheated on the way home from work.

After cooling down and investigating, it turned out it was low on coolant. I refilled the header tank and ran it up a few times to get the level back where it should be and looked for leaks.

It turned out that the company, Pro Alloy, who supplied 1320 MINI with the radiator and intercooler package had unfortunately forgotten to bolt them together properly (they are always supplied to 1320 MINI already bolted together so there isn't any reason to check them). The net result of this unfortunate oversight was that the radiator was loose and holed itself on the water pump.

I don't think the engine has been wounded, and Pro Alloy and 1320 MINI are going to fix it entirely at their cost (other MINI specialists could learn from this), but the lead time for a new radiator is 2-3 weeks, and then we've got to make arrangements for getting 1320 to the car or vice versa.

An annoying hitch but hopefully not the end of the world, and it'll be up and running again soon.

Well the car has been up and running again for quite a while now but given the circumstances I haven’t driven it much.

Got an oil cooler fitted at 1320 a couple of weeks back to try and keep oil temps down - they were a major issue at The shakedown at Goodwood last year.

Hopefully I’ll get booked in again there this year and give it another go

Hi Mark, glad there was no engine damage following the overheating incident and hope your new oil cooler keeps the oil temps down when giving it the beans. Another item to add to your massive list of mods - that is indeed top modding.

Hi Gary

Actually the head did crack but it only became apparent a few months later and I forgot to post it here. 1320 sorted it at very minimal cost though so that was good.
