Recently bought a 54 plate Mini Cooper, no mot but I have its fail certificate. Could anyone tell me what bush this is as I’m planning to replace it myself

“nearside &offside front suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn nearside front inner (rear)”

Also, getting a noise when driving and gets louder at higher speeds but goes when not underload or idling, any ideas on this? It does have a 5 speed gear box, I understand this is renowned for failing?

The gearbox you have is the getrag model and is strong in general , its the pre August 2004 "Midland boxes" that are crap

But it does sound like a gearbox issue

Cant help on the bushes, sorry

The bush is the inner one on the front lower wishbones. Very common for them to be worn. Most people replace them with poly bushes.

I changed mine the other week and I found the easiest way was to drop the front subframe which allows you to get access to them easier. Whilst the subframe is off, it may pay to replace the inner ball joints at the same time as they are cheap enough.
