The arches, yikes. Penny pinching so badly on a £40k car.

At the weekend I saw some internal Mini dealer briefing documents. The 'base' (its referred to as 'weight optimised for performance') GP will not come with any form of a/c, so unless you like sweating the £2k 'Touring Pack' is a must in the UK for a car used regularly. Mini expect 90% of UK cars to be so specified.

They quote 1255kgs for the base GP vs 1340kg for a JCW - a saving of 85kgs. A lot of that must come from ditching the a/c.

At the point of writing, there were 100 of the UK's 575 allocation available. Those who have pre-ordered have to state a base/Touring preference this month, firm order next month (PCP pricing will be available), production starts in March and customer deliveries are complete by end June. Mini are trying to prevent stock or demo cars being ordered and will not allow any changes to confirmed orders.

Weight figures are available; I took the figures above from a Mini dealer briefing document.
Interesting - cheers. So if we say approx 1300kg with AC (Touring Pack) it's about the same weight as a Megane Trophy-R and similar power-to-weight as a Honda CTR. I was kinda hoping it'd be a bit lighter than that with it being smaller.

This little mini should be good fun to chuck around,I own a gti Css which is a 2 seater special edition and that’s rapid but also pretty invisible to the eye to,what it actually is, no such invisibility with a Gp3

Looks like the Yaris GR4 could trump the GP3 a little.
What do you base that on?
Price / looks / handing with the selectable bias 4wd.
The 4wd is a possible plus, still lots of unknowns!
At least they let the journos drive it at the launch, unlike the GP3. So I'd guess more unknowns on the GP3.
Looks like the weight of the YARIS and MINI are similar...though GP3 has about 40 BHP more than the YARIS

wow, they don't have much faith in its future value.

I’m assuming that wasn’t from a dealer? They would t give me info when I asked in December but there was a screenshot floating around with an indicative offer that suggested a c. 50% GFV

Thats insane. Its the same GFV that is being offered for the standard 3 door JCW. The countryman which is about the same value as the GP has GFV of £14.5K with 10K miles. Doesnt seem right to me.

Hopefully it's not right, it's what my dealer sent to me this morning

If you bail out, do you lose your deposit? I was told the deposit was refundable until I made the final decision to buy - not sure if it was just the usual bull to get me to sign on the dotted line.

Also, they only wanted £1000, you seem to have paid £2k. When did you sign up? My enquiries were made mid-November.

It's in line with what my dealer (Sytner's) has indicated, but +£50pm for a car with Touring pack.

Makes it M2C sort of money....

No deposit given, I popped in in December, was told they had a cancellation, so provisionally put my name down. No deposit or commitment was asked for

Monthly rentals.... that optional final payment isn't a guaranteed future value?

Looks like you had £2k knocked off the price, then - happy days smile

Looks like it is also the non-Touring pack version - the one that I would have gone for.

Unfortunately not, I should have been clearer. I was told this morning prices were now available, so I asked for a rough quote assuming a 2k deposit and 8k miles. I just wanted to see what their future values were like, I was disappointed. If I was to buy I'd likely go for the touring, but with prices like that I'll stick to my 140.

Is that just a general quote they've just sent you with an updated final option to pay?
Id be rather miffed they haven't even gone through basic things like that final price.
May as well have stuck their finger in the air

They said "Last night the GP3 had a Residual Value Update"

Those numbers don’t make sense - can we see the rest of it to see what each figure is?
