Does anyone know the lead time on these, if I ordered one tomorrow?
Hard to say, but I understand they’ve been incredibly popular. With the option to walk-away on first test drive, MINI must be super confident of finding homes for them. I guess you’d be waiting about 6 months from now unless walk-away cars start becoming available?

I think the benefit of their 3 model only approach is that there are relatively few colour combinations and they can switch wheels easily.

As such, I would hope that if people drop out then their cars can relatively easily be moved to people later in the queue, to pull them forward.

From all the US based road reviews I have seen the car delivers exactly what it promised, in terms of a Mini driving experience aimed at urban users doing limited milage. As such I would be surprised if many people dropped out, as I don't see any of the other smaller electric cars that have been announced doing a better job of this. Sure they can get a longer range, possibly at a lower price, but they don't seem to be that "fun" to drive, where as if the Mini really can capture much of the Cooper S feel, then it will.

Avidly waiting for my test drive.

I've just signed up here after browsing around for a while.

Ordered a Level 3 last week and so far have an estimated delivery of end of May. Expecting a more confirmed date later this week.

Dealer had one in the showroom but under covers and with threat of death to anyone peeking!

Also looking forward to a drive but I did run an i3 for a year a couple of years ago so I'm not totally new to the electric experience. I cannot believe what I was quoted by Mini for a charge point (£900) and I already have the wiring in place. I used a Rolec charger on the i3, the one I had sported a very handy 13amp socket useful for the power washer or vacuum cleaner. Of course smart meters are now the thing but I'm not sure if they really have any advantages.

Was thinking of just going as basic as possible, to keep costs down, so probably a Rolec

http://www.rolecserv.com/ev-charging

as it seems to be only around £295 for a 7KW model, which will fits my needs and seems to be a couple of hundred less that the alternatives.

Rolec seem to have a good reputation and their internals seem more standard, so easier to fix if a problem occurs outside warranty.

The reviews keep coming thick and fast, all seem to be focussed on how fun it is to drive which is.... the right answer!

So my test drive / decision day looks like May 12th. Exciting!

Thought Rolec had a bad reputation?

Do they?

I have been looking around and all of the charger point manufacturers seem to have large number of people complaining about them.

They also normally seem to have lots of people saying they are good.

Seems to be a bit of a mine field.

AC chargers are not the most complex pieces of equipment, so really all of them should be able to do a good job, but I cannot get a clear picture as to if any one is better than the others.

Had my test drive today, a Level 2 car the same as I have ordered, and I have to say it was everything I was hoping for.

We only drive about 400 miles a month in total, so keeping the existing Fabia petrol car for longer distance trips, the Mini will do perfectly for everything else. Both of us work from home and most of the 400 miles we drive each month is 5-10 mile round trips to gym, shops, parents, friends etc. so range not an issue.

Not used to either an automatic or regen braking, but after 30 min was perfectly happy with both, although still rather jerky at times whilst slowing down but that will sort itself out with practice I am sure.

Needless to say confirmed the order and looking forward to end of month, when hopefully it will be delivered.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing. The reviews are coming thick and fast and everything seems to suggest it’s a cracking drive - great to get confirmation from someone who’s stumped their money up!

I really enjoyed Jonny Smith’s (Carpevert’s) review:

Wow that’s soon - good for you! I’m still 2 months away which is mad considering I was the 8th person to put my name down my dealer. Got my test drive this Sat though...

Good luck and make sure to tell us all about it on here!!
