Collected this today, level 2 electric. Only driven it 110 miles or so home from Perth - it’s obviously not a performance car, but 10-40 mph is surprisingly nippy so I think it’ll be a decent commuter.

Does the electric Mini only come with those yellow mirror caps?

No, they’re an additional free option alongside the ones you get the with every other Mini - black, white, body colour. If I’d spec’d mine from new I’d likely have gone with black, but I don’t dislike the yellow as much as I was expecting to.

Ours has dark grey mirror caps, black roof with the Corona wheels. Another combo!

Nice! The silver-white paint is lovely on both of the above

New R53 owner here. In need of dark grey powder coating for the wheels, but loving so far. Spacers and pulley upgrade imminent, as are JCW stripes on the front 👌🏼.

Please excuse my ignorance, but how does the LSD work on a front wheel drive car?
Does it do the front or back wheels or both sets?

Does the fronts only. Sends power to the wheel losing grip.

thanks for the reply, but is there a risk of the opposite rear getting really light? or dragging? Must be a difficult engineering problem as the front wheel drive cars are also steering

I had the Quaife ATB diff in mine too and it helped massively in getting the power down with little drama. It really does work fantastically well, especially with higher states of tune (270 bhp on mine). Combine that with good tyres and the grip/traction is impressive

First birthday tomorrow (well anniversary of us collecting it - it was built in March and arrived in Australia mid-May). Only done 5,500km in 12 months.

My wife loves it.

Picked up my first Cooper S this weekend.

Been very impressed with it so far. Spotted at a local dealer having been recently traded in. They hadn't even washed it so managed to get a good price on it.

It's desperate for a thorough clean. It's also horrendously underwheeled so I'll be looking at larger Mini wheels over the next few weeks!

I've already replaced the rubber all-weather mats with proper fabric ones as well as replacing the puddle lights with Mini logo ones.

Slightly rubbish photo.

But today the Firestone Firehawk tyres (nope, me neither) have been swapped for a set of new Michelin PS4s.

Initial impressions in the 10 minute drive home following a tractor for most of it is that the noise that sounded like a rear wheel bearing failing has gone. Other than that, no idea if they're any good biggrin

Well it's taken just 3 weeks, but she looks quite different now. After a couple of wash and clay bar sessions I was able to see the state of the paint. I'm pretty sure the previous owner's idea of a wash was a bucket of water and a j-cloth. Two panels do need a respray as the lacquer is quite damaged.

Aside from that I tracked down some 17" Mini wheels and had them refurbed in an anthracite-esque colour. I've also dechromed as much as I can at the moment (chrome on the grill will be replaced with black once I find the time to remove the bumper) along with adding some red to the front. She looks a lot nicer (in my eyes) now. I don't think visually there is anything else I'd do.

We've had two Mini R56 JCWs as our dailies - the first in 2008, bought via Cowley factory direct sale. Kept for just over 3 yrs.

Back at home.

Then decided to flog it to local Mini dealer and buy another via the factory direct again in 2012.
Would have gone for a GP2 but lack of rear seating meant no sadly.

Majority of buyers of JCWs then were going for black with red roof combo.
I asked which was the least popular colour combo at that point and was told Pepper white and Chilli red roof had no orders at this point
That'll do!! I'll have that then.
Pic is of car just prior to handover at Cowley.

Still have it 10 yrs on, do not like any of the replacement (new body) versions.

Hate working on it though, half the front of the bloody car needs removing to do simple stuff like alternator or water pump changes etc.
But for a fun small quick car, it's superb still.

I'm a tight sod and old (8th decade) but it keeps one alert and is easy to get out of trouble and plenty fast enough!
I really did like the GP2 red front air intakes, but 230 quid!!! for a couple of bits of plastic? FO!

I've always been handy with paint, so I got one can of Halfrauds Chilli Red aerosol and paint the units in place. How hard can that be?
Masked up, primed with a grey aerosol. Then thought perhaps they'd look ok in Pepper white? I had a can of gloss white similar to Pepper.
If I like them white it I'll get the correct Pepper white.

Nah, don't like that.
Grabbed the Chilli red aerosol... half an hour and less than a tenner, Bingo!
