That is very, very cool! I am aware of an R53 on an 07 plate but have never seen another, let alone one on an 08 plate! Very unusual as all the cars were built to order back then, and even though the R56 came out in November 2006 the R53s were still desirable, so would be interesting to see why it sat for 18 months before being registered!

Just out of interest, do you know what month it was built in?
It was built in APR 06, and had a PDI in Limassol, Cyprus as stamped in the servicing book.
According to the first owner it sat in the Limassol showroom unsold / not for sale for 14 months before being shipped back to the UK and registered on the 1st April 2008

The onboard computer is in KM, which MINI should be able to correct, I was hoping to pop along this morning... plus all the MOT history mileage is a mixture of miles and km dependent on the inspectors attention to detail.

Thank you, I don't have the attention span to look after a car to show condition, so I rag the heck out of it on gravel and spend my garage time fixing it!

Hankered after one of these for long enough and finally got one and I'd forgotten how much fun driving could be.

I bought this two weeks ago today. My third MINI, I've had two R53's previously. I'd just sold my 435i and needed a stop gap car and this came up for sale locally at a price I was happy with. It was the colour combo that drew me in. Just getting to grips with the N18 engine.

Had a few hours this afternoon fitting dash cam, giving it a general once over and a bit of a wash and a polish.

Really happy with the car, I'm finding myself wanting to steal it and leave my 1 series at home but the Mrs isn't having any of it smile
And it's now going.....

Been absolutely faultless and a great car but the wife's just got an Evoque so the Mini is getting picked up on Wednesday.

Only ever needed tyres and other routine services etc. Sad to see if go to be honest!

Great aren't they.

I bought my 2016 F55 Cooper S in March last year. I've covered 22,000 miles in it. I've only had 1 service, front tyres & rear pads in that time.

Plenty of clubbys appearing here.

We have had ours for a couple of years now and the wife was thinking of a change but couldn't justify the costs to change to another car. So we spent some money on the clubby and will keep it long term.

Its a Cooper S. Wheels refurbed, a full de-chrome kit with a new body wrap and an ecu tune to about 250-260bhp.

Yep it's been brilliant. Good on fuel, decent amount of power and handles well. If I wasn't stuck in my lease for another 15 months I'd have kept it!

We got back into MINI life briefly, with a little story now that the dust has settled.

Callum, my son, passed his test a few months ago, and we'd been looking for an R56 with the aero kit. I found one one marketplace, his first car...clever Dad!

It arrived on the transporter Tue 9th May, and I swung in past the local tyre place to get a tyre resealed... job jobbed... back home to hide it round the corner awaiting him coming home from work.

Pulled the surprise, then we sorted out insurance while we ate, so he could go and see his girlfriend, go for a wee spin etc. My one condition was that he first take me for a little drive, work out the controls and get comfy. We both really liked it, and he dropped me off before heading off.

They went to a local town near Aberdeen, the usual drive through etc. About 3hrs later on the way home, they were hit by a chap driving way too fast and way beyond his talents in an X3, at the Loch of Skene. Fortunately they're all fine, and the MINI did a grand job.

This is the result

Car as you'd expect, has been written off. They settled the claim very quickly, just waiting for his excess to be refunded while we look for another.
I'm glad to say he wants another R56, and I fancy getting another, having had an F56 Cooper and an R55 JCW. Also glad to report the rear tyre that I had resealed, held up just fine.

I'm sure we can all remember our first time driving a car without anyone else beside them, sorry your son had that experience tainted but glad they both walked away safely.
