That’s a bit of good news. Ours did this. The water pump pully took out the belt.

New friction wheel comes with an electric plug which the old one didn't, assume later cars had something to plug into it?

And a run out for new boots, only fronts are in, rears come in friday, but the fronts where a bit too worn and i want to use the thing tomorrow. Did have missfire codes on cylinders 3&4 and it started coughing as I turned onto the drive frown Reseated all the coils and loom plugs to the coils and took it for a 20 mile thrash and they have not returned, will keep an eye on the though.

So from a fixing point of view it is all done, still unsure if I will get a remap, but have an AEM induction kit coming which will need the insurance informing so will see how much a remap will cost insurance wise while I am at it, in theory I am at stage 2 with all the bits going on, so 250bhp area, could be fun LOL

Congrats!

Once you get the AEM fitted you will want a tune to go on top - it will be impossible to resist. You know you want to...

off for the rear tyres this afternoon. The clamps on the exhaust backboxes have slipped and are rattling, will see if I can get the tyre place to tighten them up. They are a poor design though, don't seem to have enough clamping force for the gauge of pipe use in the exhaust, may look at getting some different clamps. Stuck some miles on it yesterday, and plan to use it every day now, I have a meeting down in Southampton on wednesday so a close to 400 mile round trip, best iron out any niggles by then!

One tip when fitting the AEM - I found that the rubber seal that pushes against the (now open and functional) bonnet vent benefits from being sealed in place. I used Sikaflex 221 to bond it and add a bead around the edge to seal. Otherwise it tended to push away with the airflow and not give a good seal / produced a whistle above 80 leptons. Enjoy thumbup

thanks, will seal it with something when I fit it. Car has matching boots now, noticed the rear disks will need doing over the summer, so think I will do the whole lot all round. Also been mulling over a visit to Oulton for a track day, will get a few more miles on it first, build up some confidence in the engine first.

When my discs needed doing I got some nice drilled and slotted Brembos for the front and solids for the rear - direct replacement for OEM with no mods needed. NB. mine is a JCW, but cerain they will supply also for the S :-

Here's some pics of my AEM install that you will be fitting shortly...

Bonnet scoop now functional with grille removed:

Air channelled from scoop through this under-bonnet ducting:

Into this:

And then through this:

Good luck with the install - it will be a breeze compared to the other major surgery you have been up to lately biggrin

Okay, so having issues with the TPM since the tyres were swapped, I know these run off the rotation on the wheel rather than sensors, so do the compare across axle? Any ideas why it would give a red tyre warning after 20-ish miles from resetting the TPM system?

Just be thankful it’s not an X-Drive!

I’ve had major issues in the past with tyre specs the transfer box just won’t accept anything not on the approved list so it’s easy to end up with a pile of rejected budget tyres in the garage!

So bought a digital gauge today, had 2.65 <> 2.45 bar across the rear axle, both set to 2.5 now, will see how it goes. Thought it would have given an amber warning on the centre clock rather than a red on the steering wheel one though.

80 odd miles today with no TPMS errors, happy days. Also replaced the exhaust clamps for some old fashioned U clamp ones, much better clamp on the rear boxes now and much quieter inside now, even better news smile
Now the bad news, and I am kicking myself in the arse for this one, the oil feed pipe for the turbo has started weeping, should have fitted a new one while I had everything apart. So looks like I will be fitting a braided hose pipe this week, trip down south will need to be in the Jeep instead

tonights spannering with be dropping the downpipe to fit new oil pipes to the turbo and installing the AEM air filter :-)

On the AEM front, seems to be some mixed reviews on the heat shield and its ability to melt the plastic on the cam cover. I have some heat reflective tape, I am wondering if I will just cover the air duct in it above the turbo rather than fit the steel heat sheild??

I've got the heatshield fitted and no issues thus far. I did see those issues reported (from the US I think). It's designed to prevent the new plastic air scoop above being melted by the heat of the turbo...

Begining to dislike this car. Looks like the front of the car is going to have to come off again, cannot get at the bolts holding the bottom of the downpipe on and the heatshield looks like it will be in the way too banghead

Okay, brew stop, taken an hour to get the front into "service mode" (half hanging off propped on an axle stand) and the new oil hoses on. Spannering things back on in a mo, and fitting the AEM intake,

Too many brew stops, just have the front grille and spots to put in.
