need to install a hinge on the front end LOL. Need to clear the garage, had a "tidy up" and have a load of crap in the way to go to the tip, think I will need to sort a skip out.

So brake wise, just pads and disks (prefered ones??) or more than that? Calipers will get a paint got to match the wing mirrors of course smile

I have replaced my discs and pads all round with Brembos. Very happy and would recommend. The fronts are drilled and slotted which also look the buisness. NB. Mine is a JCW.

I thought drilled/slotted was proved a marketing exercise and actually cocks up the braking relative to vented discs?

Most performance cars run at least drilled, so they can't all be wrong. They work really well on the Mini and I have no complaints. They do look good too smile

Gone with yellow stuff pads, some people aren't impressed with them but I have always used them on lighter cars with no issues at all.

Just need to wash the mini and get it into the garage over the weekend.

Funnily enough I've recently got yellowstuff pads on mine with the ultimax grooved discs and braided hoses but due to lockdown not had a chance to get them bedded in yet as barely driven the thing. Will update as and when I get a chance.

Hi, what are those and are the rears also drilled and slotted, or just the fronts? Nice smile

Same front and rear, ebay specials from Japspeed, used them before on my mx5 and they were good.

I think it worked out £300 for the disks and yellowstuff pads all round.

So it is engine oil, seems to be coming from the front, and not on first glance from the oil cooler. No more oil pooling on top of the gearbox, so the vacuum pump leak had been sorted, this one however is getting worse quickly. I hope it is just one of the turbo lines or something easy headache

Had to give the pad a blow over on the front, yellow & green were a bit much LOL. 1 corner left to go.

Arse, didn't spot on the first front one, the supplied disks are too small, they have sent cooper disks (?), not cooper S, they are too small.

Turbo feed and return lines seem a common source of leaks

So oil leak, turbo feed & return look too dry to be making the mess, so do I swap out the cooler housing gasket? Kind of think I may as well as I am in there are the moment... IMG_20200607_142748 by Old_Chad, on Flickr

Did the oil filter housing to block gasket and the cooler to housing gaskets, plus re fitted the turbo feeds. Hopefully sorted it now!

Just came to fire it up and the battery is flat, this car likes to wind me up! On charge, oil and water topped up, will fire it up in the morning and bleed the system out. Just waiting for the replacement disks to turn up and I am back on the road with it.

One thing I forgot to mention/do, when doing the oil cooler make sure you dont forget to drain the coolant unlike me. A sump full of mobil 1 in the bin, an oil filter and 5 litres of cheapy mineral oil through it to make sure. Didn't run it before I realised what I had done, just very annoying. Plus point I had it running for 30 mins with no sign of leaks smile

Leak prime suspect.....

Slightly off topic but you seem to know what your doing with the R55. biggrin

Seen a R55 N14 I quite like, but its had the tensioner, clutch, valve stems, pistons, gaskets all replaced as part of an engine rebuild. I know these are potentially a money pit, but since you have been fixing yours anything else worth checking?

My thought is that someone has already ploughed a ton of money into the car. surely its a safer bet for me to buy than one that hasn't had these issues fixed?

they are high maintenance engines, but if you keep on top of them they seem okay. As long as the work done was to a decent standard it wouldn't put me off. Latest oil leak issue is my own fault, I should have replaced the seals when I did the head, hey ho.

Yes looks to be completed to a good standard, and since that occurred the owner has been changing the oil every 5k and keeping an eye on it.

All the big bills look to have been done which is handy.
