Well the airbag issue was just a plug issue under the seat, reseated both sides multiplug for the seat, cleared the codes and all good. Got offered a silly deal on wifeys Jeep Renegade (2 years in on a 4 year PCP, dealer offered a deal to have it back which meant the 2 years cost us a few hundred quid apart from fuel) so the Mini is Wifey's daily for the rest of the year at least.

Wifey only does shiny so one valet later the Mini is shiny again

Green mirrors may need changing, don't go with the wheels, may go black with some gold/bronze pinstriping on them

Had an altercation with a man hole cover in some grass while I was doing a cider delivery, expensive delivery frown Looks to have ripped the front drivers side jack block off and destroyed the sill cover, luckily no bodywork damage other than a bit of scratched paint, so an easy touch up. Hopefully sourced a second hand sill cover so a quick fix (maybe) Also found a set of used roof rails, so need to go and buy a big pot of brave pills and drill some holes in the roof to fit them, not a job I am looking forward to but I want rails on for my bikes and the Mini cross bars look st so not fitting them.

scrw. With your level of spannering it should be a breeze. I may be talking bull, but I'm sure I've seen a YouTube video of someone doing it.

Just stumbled across this Facebook post where someone retrofitted roof rails (check the comments on the photos). Thought it might be useful....

OCD was appeased for 1 mile today...I may have diverted from my route to go down a quiet lane so I could stop and take a photo LOL

On an annoying point, I am trying to program my lights with Bimmercode to come on with the unlock fob, nothing doing, wondering if my FRM is a bit duff.

Still not been brave enough to do the roof yet, will need doing when the weather gets better so I can fit a bike rack.
Latest oddness with an N14, last night the oil filler cap decided to undo itself, que a very oily stinking engine bay. Strange thing is it is 3 weeks since an oil top up and 3 weekly oil checks so it did just decide to undo itself.

Very interesting reading, and excellent work on getting stuck in!

We've just brought one in very similar spec to yours in looks... Vacuum leak under the intake manifold, and a big oil leak from crank seal but hopefully getting ontop of it. Think it has a leak from the oil cooler aswell, but want to get some proper miles on it first to see if its actually leaking..

Be careful with the oil cooler leak, it can end up with water in the oil if it gets bad

Hmmmm ok, thanks for making me worry furthermore! biglaugh

I had'nt quite determined where its coming from, could have also been the vaccum pump or coolant hose that runs adjacent... So many potential weaknesses on these cars it seems but atleast its all fairly 'diy-able' it appears

Get the gaskets for the cooler and filter housing and its an easy enough job, hardest part is putting the front end in "service mode" (which is basically moving it forward about 20cm) However once learned it is a 30 min job, been there many times LOL

tonights spannering with be dropping the downpipe to fit new oil pipes to the turbo and installing the AEM air filter :-)

On the AEM front, seems to be some mixed reviews on the heat shield and its ability to melt the plastic on the cam cover. I have some heat reflective tape, I am wondering if I will just cover the air duct in it above the turbo rather than fit the steel heat sheild??
Don't suppose you recall where this kit was from? Decided to do oil filter housings and may as well do turbo lines as well...
