MINI Clubman JCW
Discussion
Hi Brainpox, thanks for replying!
My Wife had a most recent model JCW hatch before I bought this, and it certainly feels very similar! Although that may be a very different feel to a GP2! It certainly feels a lot different to her 2004 Supercharged Cooper S, a lot more solid and “grown up” if that makes sense.
Every time I floor it though it makes me smile, it is properly quick!

Sorry, forgot the barn door question. I am used to reversing in to spaces and so it has caught me out a few times! It’s not the most practical design although the boot is a good size (for me anyway). If you reverse in to a tight space with limited room behind then can’t open the boot, or if you can, may have to squeeze past the doors to get things in. Takes some getting used to!
Also a quick ownership update. I’m just under 10k miles and I have had to add 1 litre of oil. It’s had 4 new tyres (Goodyear F1 Eagles), been very pleased with them. The 2 fronts needed doing and then I got an unrepairable puncture in 1 of the rears (typical). It hasn’t had a service yet although according to the computer it’s due in 6k miles. Enjoyed the car very much!
I enjoyed driving the Clubman JCW so much I decided to get rid of the M135i as it wasn't being used much and get something more fun and I wasn't disappointed. The noises it makes just adds to the fun and although not as quick as the Clubman it makes up for it in the handling.

I'd love a JCW, however I have an F55 S and prefer that shape, I think it rides better than the F56, and of course you can't get a F55 JCW. I had a F54 2017 for a year and couldn't get on with it and I definitely wouldn't have a F60. Such a shame, lovely car all the same OP and thanks for sharing your experiences.
Perhaps the next car for me is a 2021+ F55 S with JCW bits and a remap

Thanks for the feedback both! Un1eash, my wife had the same model JCW hatch as yours also in chilli red and it was so good (what finally convinced me to get a MINI)! I still prefer the shape of the hatch over the Clubman but I need the extra space l, especially with a new daughter!
Love the Cooper S also. Just great fun cars, glad you are enjoying yours a lot.

I still find my F56 JCW more than quick enough for having fun. 231bhp in a small lightish hatch goes rather well, and tbh I don't even feel the need to tune it.I use my car for the office once a month and school run on rainy days, I manage to squeeze the 6 and 4 year old boys in the back but their at the age where they can climb in themselves.
I don't plan on any more mods apart from de chrome the belt line. I've already de chromed the rest and added the JCW pro bumper extensions.
I think I've only ever seen 2 other JCW Clubman's on the road.

I did the belt line on my F55 S using the proper kit from Mini, I managed to get a relatively good deal on it and it’s defo better than just using tape. I don't plan on any more mods apart from de chrome the belt line. I've already de chromed the rest and added the JCW pro bumper extensions.

I missed out on getting the genuine kit for £280 and it appears a lot more expensive now. For £15 I'm going to try the tape as the sample piece I was sent went on well and looked good. The rest I've used genuine gloss black piece's someone local just happened to be selling new in the box for half the price dealers charge.

Yes, they are a lot of money granted but they are quality, I got mine for £200 on eBay from the Mini dealer in Ipswich. The rest I've used genuine gloss black piece's someone local just happened to be selling new in the box for half the price dealers charge.

Had our JCW now for 18 months and just passed 16,000 miles.
Just returned from a month trip to the Algarve where we took the JCW and covered 3,800 miles.
It’s a really good all round car. I like the fact it’s a relatively small car (by modern standards) and yet is practical. It's fun to drive, has a good turn of speed and has all the tech we need.

Thanks for sharing! Looks a nice colour combo you picked. I have never done a proper long road trip like you have done but would absolutely love to (especially to somewhere nice like the Algarve). Glad you enjoy the car and agree with everything you have said. Just returned from a month trip to the Algarve where we took the JCW and covered 3,800 miles.

Meant to add this to the previous post. Now that it is dark early and the headlights are on a lot I have been getting flashed a lot by oncoming cars. I’ve checked and the auto main beam isn’t on. Never had this on any previous car. The lights must be dazzling oncoming cars. Will get Mini to check when it has its 1st service. Very annoying and don’t want to be causing hassle for others on the road.
