Well, few people on PH seem to talk about these but I can only say I've owned mine for almost 6 months following an MX5 and to be honest I love mine. The combination of comfort and character is difficult to beat. A car that can be a relaxing side kick one minute and a hooligan the next is a fairly rare combination of qualities especially in a small car. Enjoy cool

Indeed. Good move.

Totally agree with you TRD. It's super versatile. Use it as a "normal" utility car that is cheap to run or use it for fun and/or track days. I even fit my 29" FS MTB in it.

I've said it many times, but I really loved the 2017 F56 Cooper S that I had for 3.5 years. I genuinely enjoyed every drive I had in it, and I even squeezed the 4 of us in it for a couple of weekends away up in Blackpool too.

I really miss it when I read threads like this one for sure, and I'm chuffed that I had/experienced one for definite. driving

Yes but then there is only so many times you can do it, sometimes only once and they will go milky again, guaranteed.
Hmm, I've heard that before. The downside to flashy wheels I guess. They're ok at the moment so I'll stick for now. smile
As an aside, we once had one of those Chipsaway type people fix a scuffed diamond cut Audi wheel (those TT RS rotor style ones where the end of the spoke is diamond cut where it merges into the rim) by painting just the damaged section silver rather than machining and relaquering.
I thought it looked cack and almost didn't pay them, but to be fair it stopped any corrosion spreading, passed visual inspection from a dealer when selling the car without a mention and didn't really show in pictures.
I can see why most people with scuffed or corroded diamond cut wheels just repaint the whole wheel & set of wheels in either black, silver or grey.

Back to MINIs I think I will go for one with those black track-pack 17 inch wheels with non run-flats, which will be easy to touch up (like my old Megane 275 Cup wheels).
I will start looking more seriously for an F56 JCW from next month. I had a nice late model JCW aerokitted R56 Cooper S previously, a Megane 275 a while back and a 987 Cayman more recently.
I kind of want a fun B road car that is compact in dimensions, has performance in line with the cars above, mainly weekend use but "dailyable", and cheap to run (for the performance). Likely to go for a 2018 model.

Agree with the above.

On the wheel front I had the M2 diamond cut wheels powder coated black chrome (the old M5 colour) and they looked better than OE IMO.

If I do anything with the wheels I'm more likely to look into the 17 inch options as mentioned earlier now, the roads are like driving on the moon at times, and although I think the car rides alright for what it is, maybe that would take the edge off, especially if combined with some 215/45/17s rather than the lower profile 205/40/18s currently on.

It's something I'll probably need to think about in the next year or so when the tyres will likely need replacing on all four corners.

That makes sense although you might as well stick to the OE 205 45 17 size which won't be a modification and offers loads more choice.

I ran 215/45 R17 tyres on my R56 (which rides worse than the F56) and liked them. The F56 JCW Challenge ran 215/45 R17 tyres on 7.5” Team Dynamics wheels, 0.5” wider than standard. Although I'm sure you can run 215s on standard 17 inch JCW wheels anyway.

I used the local chips away to diamond cut one of my JCW wheels. They did an ok job, but when I curbed wheels on the one series I took them to Lepsons who did a much better job for the same price. Only downside was that I had to leave the car with them for a week.
