Cooper S Works and Cooper S values

It is well known that these cars have very good residuals at present.
I have seen dealers asking £26,000 for a used one, which admittedly is pretty silly.
I am just wondering two things.
Will values of the existing car fall sharply when the much better 1.6 turbo motor starts getting used, as it by all accounts is way more up to date than the current dated 1.6 supercharged unit?
As an aside, why did they not make it a 1.8 or 2.0, if they were going to the trouble of such a big change with the Mini Cooper S?

Not convinced vaules will be hit much, if at all. There is a thriving market for them in all guises currently anyway. Also there's no guarantee that the turbo motor will be any bettr than the supercharged motor - both have there plus's and minus's.
The updated MINI is actually dropping some of the expensive-to-engineer parts of the original such as the multi link suspension, clamshell bonnet and some of the funky switchgear so it may be that people prefer the original.......

i'd have thought it will knock values but not by as much as if, say, a golf or focus were replaced...
i will probably be wrong but i can foresee the new 143bhp cooper getting a lot closer to the price of the current coopers and the new cooperS (which i thought i had seen was going to be 175bhp so there's another number to add to the confusion) will be correspondingly more expensive....
i bought my (170hp!) coopers in the full knowledge that at least sometime next year the turbo was coming out - but i actually wanted the gnarly supercharged lump and i reckon (some) people will continue to want that engine even if it is (inevitably) technically inferior to the turbo.
oh and finally it appears the turbo will be a lot more of a 'facelift' than replacement model than was orignally reported - when the proper 'replacement' is released i think is when the values will finally lower to the levels of equivalent models. has anyone seen the cr4p residuals they quote in 'test drive' (- dentists) something like eight and a half grand for a 3 year old cooperS - if soemone would like to show me the person selling them that cheap i'll buy a second one this afternoon...!

Is that what they are quoting
Once all the lease cars start coming onto the open market the price will enevitably suffer, MINI's have been the staple diet of a lot of reps since they came out. The three year lease/finance etc agreements are now ending. I know someone who has just been offered £6K for a 3 year old Cooper on trade in, (she still owes £7300 on it!!).
I think waiting a couple of months will prove vauable if you want to pick up a 'bargain', especially with the new model round the corner.
Now, how much can I get a Cooper S for??
and add a works kit??.
