I want to buy a mate an upgrade, but can anything actually be done for the base car's engine?

My Cooper S Works was chipped and i know the stock Cooper S can be, but what about the little 90bhp version?

Ta very much.

The One drivetrain is identical to that of the Cooper, except for the ECU programming. Word on the street is that above 4,000 rpm, the drive-by-wire throttle simply doesn't allow WOT anymore .

The upside is that any chip tuner worth his/her salt should be able to bring the One up to Cooper performance or slightly beyond, making it just about the only naturally aspirated car for which 'chipping' yields more than marginal results. The Superchips conversion seems to be well regarded and is claimed to offer and extra 30 bhp.

Linkey, pretty please? I might be tempted to buy my company car off the lease company, depending on what they'll offer as a replacement (they're tight a**es here especially when you're not in Sales ) .

I am reliably informed (!!) that Superchips are able to increase the bhp of a mini one to more than a cooper to around 140bhp from memory......

That is an awesome upgrade, but im a snob and wudnt choose to be seen in a mini one, lol. Although this has changed my thinking, and it sort of takes the new mini back to the roots of its predecesor.
A small car with a great handling chassis with good looks but no frills. I quite like the thought of beating an egotistical 318i driver (as these are the people who mostly cut me up) off the line in a mini one.

I have checked out the Lohen website after reading this thread, however the so called 33bhp and 33Nm ecu upgrades(superchips bluefin) only actually increase max bhp by 30bhp and max torque by 12Nm, this said the torque is transformed in comparison to the original probably meaning that using over 4500rpm actually yields some more grunt!
In addition to this Lohen seem to claim that replacing the air filter element with a pipercross filter will give you another 10bhp! Can this be true?

Does anyone know of any other retailers/ecu upgrades(e.g does jcw offer anything similar) that are competitive in terms of results/price?

And a last slightly off topic ques, does andybody know if a Mini one without the optional sports suspension can be retrofitted with it?
