New Cooper S Works

Not that impressive, tbh and way down on the former Works and my Works GP.
(210 and 218).

Surely a turbocharged, more modern Cooper S Works engine should have 200 bhp as a MINImum?

It's just a tuning pack not the new Works. Rumour has it the new works will actually be a model in itself direct from the factory. The tuning pack of 189bhp is purely for people with the new R56 Cooper S.

Off topic slightly but the new Cooper S is showing a fair bit more than 175bhp on the dyno. This has been confirmed by several owners.

Lots of rumours floating about regarding the new works R56. Ive heard rumours of 2 versions, a refined one an hardcore one, an also heard on of just one single car so no offical word as of yet, the 197 version is just a basic retro fit kit more of a sounds kit from what i can glean

german manufacturers have always been modest with their quoted outputs........my Cooper S Works always felt well above its quoted 210hp, stonking fast

Funny you should say that but, most r53 S Works have been found to be putting out around 195-198hp on dynos
