How many Mini's did they get?

TVR Car Club did this at Rockingham last Sunday and got 551 cars in the convoy.

I have not seen anything official yet but the general opinion was we had done it. A few other reports say that we were 2 short so not so sure.

Short of what number?

It sounds as though this was an 'unofficial' attempt. An official attempt would be so well documented that the number would have been instantly known.

The current record held by Ferrari is 363 as I believe. TVR made an official bid for this and precisely followed the rules and general guidance of Guinness. They got a total of either 550 or 551 and are currently awaiting ratification by Guinness

hopefully they will try again when I'm home.
I bet they didn't let you get out of 2nd gear on the track?

I took part in the Derek Woodman organised event, which had a Guiness representative present. The total raised then was 269. The record was officaly recorded and a certificate issued to Derek Woodman and many of the participants who paid for one too. This was done on a public road under Police escort.

Then the Americans claimed a total of 273. However I do not know if this was ever ratified by Guiness?

Then this attempt at Donnington made a total of 271 cars... thats 2 short of the supposedly 'new' record the Americans set.

If the American record is not offically recognised and the Donnigton one was, then indeed a new record may be set.

In the mean time I'm confused!

Regards,

James.

No unless you left a big gap on the back straight and then booted it through Goddards wink

I feel really bad if they were only 2 short. We arrived just after the cut off and didn't think we had time to register, which aparantly we did as they seemed to extend the time.

Oh dear. frown

Hollypop i wouldnt worry about it. If the organisers had thought about it there were 30+ Minis sat waiting in the assembly area (or maybe they just assumed they had enough...) I'm sure none of the team owners or drivers would have objected to sending a few cars out. I know our team wouldn't have objected.
