Hi all,

I'm running a MCS, 52 plate, 46k miles and have noticed that the engine temperature is running slightly hotter than normal. The gauge shows it at just above the centre mark. It's not over heating nor is the fan cutting in but just seems unusual. I've had this checked out by MINI but they can't find a fault.

Just wondered if anyone else has or has had the same problem?

Cheers,

Tommy luv.

I have a 53 plate MCS which has temperature needle in normal place, but the fan cuts in when I've been idling for 2-3 minutes. No warning lights on, topped up coolant a few weeks ago but the fan is cutting in occasionally again now. I'm loathe to take it to Mini until its next service is due (approx 2000 miles) so am currently just keeping an eye the coolant and being careful with it until then (prob about 6 weeks). Alternatively if it becomes a problem or starts happening more frequently I'll take it somewhere sooner, unless anyone has any advice.

The fan is supposed to cut in, when then car is stationary it has no airflow through the radiator, meaning heat can't be taken out of the coolant so effectively, so the fan provides an artifical airflow.
