OK, my car currently has 17" Pirelli run flats on it, the front two are almost out of life (just under 3mm) and I have a slow puncture on one of the reat tyres. I have therefore decided to replace all four tyres at once. To compound matters one of the front wheels is slightly buckles so I need to replace one of the alloys aswell. With this in mind I saw the following deal :-

http://www.wheel-base.co.uk/proddetail_fit.asp?pro...

With the Toyo tyres. Would that be a bad choice, are the Toyos run flat or normal ( I cant stand the handling of run flats but dont want to invalidate my insurance!

Any advice/links would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

First don't even consider run flats, bin them completely - they destroy the ride!

Second, in my view 17s are too big for mini's, undoubtedly the cars run better on 16s and looks better, so don't write them off. I had 17s on my mini but got rid of them for 16s and it was easily the best thing I did.

Having said that the mini is being binned in favour of a Lotus in 2 weeks so the 16s will be sold if you are at all interested! wink

pretty sure the replicas are heavier.

if i were to change my 17" bullets for anything it'd be the 16" wheels from a park lane(?) runout edition (you know the vaguely TVR spider type ones).

how do you know how the mini drives without run flats unless you make the dcision to ditch them?

Also run flats are designed for women who would not put up with the hassle of using tyre weld or waiting for a recovery truck.

If you want to keep it original I have a set of 17's for sale on ebay that are unmarked. In addition, the pirelli's were new all round 3k miles ago. See below for link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

You will get a very cheap set of wheels if they sell for around the price that they are currently up for.
