Hello all,

My Mrs has just got herself a Cooper S, 19k from new and full MINI SH. The car has sat around in a mates garage for nearly 2 years, with him not starting it or moving it at all. I went over a few weeks ago and spent two days getting the thing running again. One thing that I cant get working is the remote central locking. I have changed the battery and still nothing. I know I could just use the key but thats not the point!

Anyone got any tips on how to get it going?

Cheers

If the key hasnt been used for a long time then the battery in the key will fail.
You could leave it in the ignition for several hours to see if it will accept a charge, but normally they need replacing which means a new key.

upto 04 the keys were coded to the basic module manually using several codes...so there is no quick initialisation sequence unfortunately.

Its worth having it diagnosed before buying a key though.

Hi again,

I can now get the car to lock but I have to hold the key transmitter right next to the sensor in the middle of the dash, so either a weak signal or a fubar'd reciever.

Any thoughts?
