Discounts hard to get from mini, I know when I got mine new a year ago there was nothing off the car or factory fit extras. Only things I got a discount on were the dealer fit bits (so JCW Aero kit & ipods kit in my case)...I also got the TLC pack chucked in for free.

Might be worth widening your search area, a lot of deals can be done over the phone with delivery to where ever you want.

This is my experience of buying an R53 old shape.
If you don't buy it from BMW you can get a hefty discount.

I bought my Cooper S from a mazda garage on the 31st of august 2007 and paid in cash, it was up for £10,750 and i got it down to £9500 over a few things.

  • They listed it as a Chili pack and it wasn't (16" instead of 17" wheels but had everything else except the xenons, front fog lights, passenger seat not adjustable or glovebox)
  • It had the airbag light on and i made a deal to get it fixed myself and not try and make them pay (they thought it was the loom, i knew it was the passenger seat plug £50 fix)
  • The gearknob had gone all brown on the rubber
  • The cowl vents had the old foam 'filters' which had degraded meaning they looked cack.
It's spec was as follows:
2002 '52' Nazi Grey & Panzer Black Roof
23k miles (never been over 73MPH!)
Old lady owner & little dog.
Blue/Black leather
Blue Carpet
CD Changer
Sat Nav (CD Version)
Climate Control
DSC

I saw a Cooper S in a MINI garage the other day, same year 50k miles and nothing, not even Aircon and they wanted £9500 for that yikes

Buy an ex-demo - that's what we did. Absolutely no discounting on Cooper S's as they are still in short supply (probably because they are so popular in the USA) but plenty of room for negotiation on an ex-demo. Ours has a few options and was less than £15,000 with 6k on the clock.

I too am looking for a mini (cooper or cooper S). I would like a 02/03, up to around 50k miles, recent mini dealer service, must have air con. Panoramic / aero kit / 17" cooper S wheels would be nice but not vital. Colour any of: Dark blue / purple / black / Grey. Really good condition. No more than £7000.

Anyone know of anything appropriate?

There's no way you'll get a 50k mile MCS with aerokit/roof & s-spokes in good nick for 7k IMHO

Here's a good place to start

Minis £7-7.5k
